Was made to feel like we weren’t welcome and were asked if we had vouchers like we couldn’t afford being there

On entering first impression very slow. Waited a while before we got service for pre dinner drinks. Service by two male servers was ridiculously slow. We eventually got starters. I had Rib Eye for main course which was served cold and the server had to be called. He did not like the fact I was making a complaint and he did not want to do anything about it. His comments were that the chef has never had a complaint before and my reply was well this is his first. I said I was not paying for this meal he took it away and returned it stating it had been put in the oven at 400 degrees. This is a nice place ruined by steak being cold. We also heard another lady complaining about the time of service and time taken to receive courses. She also complained about steak being served cold and I think this Chef has had two complaints one after the other. I would not recommend this to anyone and will certainly not return. Dreadful experience.

Fantastic romantic restaurant, perfect place to celebrate my birthday with my husband. Staff all very polite and professional, lovely ambiance in restaurant, very dark and candlelit, feeling of sheer luxury and opulence, food was amazing, best steak and chips we have ever had. We will definitely go back and we would highly recommend the restaurant (and the hotel) to friends and family.

We enjoyed the food which was excellent and well cooked, and the wine was also very nice. Service was also very good, although the Hotel had "run out of" English Mustard to go with the steak. Is that possible??? Anyway, if there was a minor downside, the venue was very quiet, the walls are painted black, and the whole thing was just a bit too formal for me ... but that may suit other diners admirably.
