A tranquil escape in the heart of the New Forest, the Stag Restaurant at New Park Manor is a family-friendly setting for modern British dining, including classic afternoon teas. Eclectic styling with regal touches features throughout, and there is a stunning conservatory dining area with views out into the grounds.

Fresh produce from the New Forest and the hotel's own garden goes in to the New Park Manor menu, giving diners a fresh taste of the local area. To start, there is local game terrine with tomato and balsamic chutney and crisp bread, while mains include delicacies like seared stone bass with charred vegetables, gnocchi and tomato caper dressing. There are special children's menus too, with inventive healthy tweaks, counting towards their five-a-day.

Afternoon tea at New Park Manor in Brockenhurst includes homemade cakes and scones with clotted cream and artisan preserves, with a choice of bubbles alongside the loose leaf teas. There is also a selection of fine wines from the bar to complement any meal.

    Our lunch experience was atrocious. We went expecting a pleasant experience having got married at the hotel several years ago. We haven't been there since it's refurb. & having seen its fresh new look on the internet we were looking forward to see the changes. Basically it's now a crèche with most people in dressing gowns from the spa including in the dining room. We were sat at our table quickly even though we were a bit early. I had requested a table in the conservatory which was empty except one table - we were seated in the main dining room. When I queried it we were sat in the conservatory but the screaming of a young child soon changed our minds! The moving around was accommodated without fuss. Then it went downhill. We placed our food order do far so good. We raised our eyebrows when the waitress rubbed water from our table with her sleeve. 2 lunches came out correctly but mine was wrong so it went back. While serving 2 lunches the waiter stretched across my husband to serve my mum dropping food on the table rather than walking round the table. Some time later another incorrect lunch came out. By this time my husband had tried his and it was Luke warm with a virtually raw poached egg on it so it went back. I finally got mine still not as expected but close enough but the bread it was on was rock hard. We received a message from the manager via the waitress apologising and we received the entire meal free. The food & beverage manager did speak to us before we left and apologised again and offered us another free meal - we will not be taking him up on the offer! Thoroughly disappointing & a completely different hotel to the one we were married in!

    Had a lovely meal here with my partner to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We stayed at the hotel in Brockenhurst, New Forest and The Stag restaurant had the most beautiful views in the gardens. I am vegetarian and they had an amazing variety of food on offer - I had a lovely soup to start, with a risotto for main and sorbet and fruit platter to finish. We were the last ones in the restaurant yet we weren't rushed to leave, and they brought us lots of different things to try that we hadn't ordered. Overall, great meal to accompany a great stay at the hotel.

    It was ok, would have liked better service. It was booked but no table available so we were put on a landing that wasn't the most comfortable for afternoon tea and interrupted by the cleaner! We were offered an outside table but it wasn't warm enough. The sandwiches had been left out so were a bit crispy round the edges with little filling. Cakes were nice and scones were excellent. It would have been good to have a more child friendly afternoon tea for my daughter.

    The welcome and attention by the main restaurant manager was good. The food was good but not outstanding. It was well cooked and presented. We enjoyed it but have been to other Luxury Family venues, most notably The Ickworth, and for the price we'd expect something more excitingly put together and presented. Also the full vegetarian options were limited especially for someone who doesn't like risotto. However, the chef did cook some lovely pasta for my wife. As I said overall a nice meal, in pleasant surroundings but not outstanding as we'd hoped.
