There are special children's menus too, with inventive healthy tweaks, counting towards their five-a-day.

It took 3 times to get our order correct. Service was non existent which would have been understandable if it was busy but there was one other couple there (who we overheard complaining by the way): as an example it took 30 mins just to try and pay and leave. We won’t mention how long it took for our order or getting it right in between. The scones were very hard ...so either they were old or left out to dry or just over cooked, either way they would be useful in a game of bowling perhaps but nothing else. Now I’ve been here before and it was nice so I’m not sure what happened this time but it put us off going again which is a shame.

Good welcome and hopes were high, but unfortunately the service (chef) and one dish didn’t meet the initial excitement. All of our meals arrived at different times, desserts were 20 mins apart luckily my son received his pudding timely though. The beef on the roast dinner was so tough, and thickly sliced not even a steak knife could tackle it and this made it inedible. We did receive a discount because of this, without prompting, which was appreciated. My sons small pizza was half a pizza base and looked to be on a premade base, not ‘freshly made’ as the menu advertised.
However facilities for children make up for this disappointing
culinary experience. Our waiter was polite although forgetful. He half cleared our plates and glasses throughout the visit, then after giving us the dessert menu, forgot to ask us for our pudding order - we prompted him after 20 mins. We were then told after a 15 min wait, we had another 10-15 wait for 2 /3 desserts, although we were told politely there was no apology from the young member of staff. Just a reason that the other restaurant was busy. Luckily one particular staff member showed concern over our visit and I assume he authorised the discount, which made slight amends to the experience. Food was tasty, apart from mentioned. My husbands food was delicious and as it was his birthday I was relieved. I did mention on arrival it was a special occasion, but didn’t get an acknowledgement from the waiter. We will visit again but perhaps chef needs more help in the kitchen. We
visited on a Sunday and waiting staff need to know when to use the word sorry to their
    customers.

It has gone down hill since its been turned in to a spa. Very dissapointed. Was expecting a expensive menu not people coming in to dining area in dressing gowns.

It made a lovely day out for my four grandchildren and me. We trekked across the forest, stopping at Bolderford Bridge for the essential bit of stick throwing and dabbling in the stream. Then onward to New Park, coming through the back way past the polo fields. The restaurant and hotel staff welcomed us warmly into the bright and cheerful conservatory where we were joined by my daughter and her husband. The lunchtime menu choice offered the adults a delicious selection: my favourite was the ham hock, topped with béchamel and cheese on ciabatta bread with two poached eggs atop, which was my choice. My daughter had the Dorset crab linguine with lemon chilli and parsley, and son in law was drawn to the Aberdeen Angus beef burger with Applewood cheese, tomato and apple chutney on brioche bun with sweet potato fries. Yummy! But the piece de resistance was the wonderful Young Forager's Menu for the children: Secret Seven spaghetti and meatballs served with seven veg sauce, sweet chilli chicken stir fry with noodles, and 6oz steak with hand cut chips, peas and broccoli (twice) were chosen, and very much enjoyed! Afterwards the children and son-in-law all chose the Cheeky Chocolate Brownies and ice cream. All clean plates showed how much they enjoyed it! After lunch the children played in the garden on the trampoline and the other play equipment, finishing with a game of football against the adults on the football pitch. Finally it was time to leave the hotel and wend our way back home down the lane, over the road and through Holland's Wood, crossing back over the road into Martin's Road and Waters Green. A lovely day out for all of us!
