Excellent food, mallard dish was heaven, great balance and flavours. Had a great chat with waitresses about food and restaurant, exceptional service.

Praised by top critics including Jay Rayner and Grace Dent, Native in Neal’s Yard pairs innovative cooking techniques with a passion for produce, creating a menu of flavour-rich, seasonal dishes. Served in charmingly laidback surrounds, dishes are packed with the country's best wild food that is native to the UK.

From a River Cottage-trained chef, the Native menu showcases natural, foraged and seasonal ingredients. Dishes evolve with the seasons, but starters may include the likes of wild rabbit and prune pastilla with pickled walnut salad, or smoked pollock croquettes with lovage mayo. For mains, discover dishes like venison rack with spiced cabbage and pommes boulangeres, or flame-grilled clams with ham hock broth and homemade sourdough.

Desserts at Native Covent Garden are no less inventive. Joining a classic English cheese board are twists on favourites, such as pain perdu with basil and lemon curd ice cream.

Tucked away in Neal’s Yard, Native restaurant in London is a 3-minute walk from Covent Garden Tube Station.

We had a great lunch - sat upstairs at ground floor level as opposed to the basement. The food was very original, beautifully presented and delicious. The portions were not huge, especially the vegetarian dish. We also had the duck and the fish which were a better amount (we were all have a main course only although ordered some desserts as a result of still being hungry!). Loved the petit fours - especially the fudge with wood ants!!.

Native is perfect. No, really. Very small, so you'll hear your friends talk, and very friendly. Theirs is a type of cuisine that I really like, with local ingredients prepared in a creative way. The pheasant and mallard were perfectly cooked, with a thin crust and buttery texture. The hake came with a little bottle of sea-vegetables sauce, that may just have been one of the best things I tasted this year. In general, the pairings of the main ingredients with small gems from the local vegetable world really works.

We loved the decoration of the restaurant, the location was perfect and the staff lovely. However, unfortunately, the scallop starter was over cooked and the chorizo over powered it. Secondly, the grouse main had a very bitter and unpleasant taste!

    Best wishes,

absolutely lovely. Very fine food in modern style which never lost its way. the dishes were beautifully presented but never lost track of the main ingredient. One knew what one was eating

We were quite early as we were going to the theatre so we sat at Chef's table, which was brilliant. The chef who was playing up explained everything he was doing/serving and gave us tasters of lots of bits! It's a very different experience and includes unusual foods, but loved every minute of it including the wood ant fudge!!

While the selection was limited to 3 dishes per course the food was excellent, the service excellent would heartily recommend it
