Portrait Restaurant is my favourite dining experience when in London. After a quick whip through the collection galleries to see what’s new, I go up to the top floor for a view of the London skyline, kick off with a berry Bellini and relax into a three course meal, served by the friendliest and mist engaging staff - just love it, as the sun goes down and the evening settles in!

We have a regular lunch here with an old friend because the surroundings are perfect, the food what we like (we always choose the same salads!) and the service perfect.

Great service, good food (pre-theatre dinner), lovely views.

It was a very pleasant experience, which we had planned for a long time. The food was lovely and fresh tasting (not too heavy). The service was friendly and efficient , with a nice touch of light humour. The view was spectacular, which is what attracted us to the restaurant in the first place. We also looked at the paintings beforehand and afterwards !

The location is fantastic, the staff friendly, efficient and helpful, but the food was a bit disappointing. My main course was plaice with a green pea puree, and really it was all a rather soggy, tasteless mush. My pudding was good, however, as was the bread.

Overall good. The service was great and attentive. The pre theatre menu was very limited and the food was ok so we wouldn’t have that again if we came back. Good value overall
