A good polite service, timely with an atmosphere of ambience. Our later booking did not show on the print out. The food was delicious and the wine pricing was acceptable. A good location for post meal events.

Overall feel, modern English, could do with some highlight colour here & there; noise level good; temperature good; service very good; food - good but some minor ingredients mentioned on the menu seemed to be missing ?; lighting could be better directed onto eating space.

Really enjoyed the meal and the experience. Staff were excellent and the food was fantastic. I went for the the steak tartar and the lamb rump, highly recommend getting the mash as well.

The food overall was good, however it was somewhat ruined by one poor main dish, namely the lamb, the quality of the lamb was terrible, i could only eat around a third. We did bring this to the attention of the waitress who agreed that it was indeed poor, covered in fat and sinew, completely out of character by all accounts and thanked us for letting us know. When we got the bill and i was a little taken back as we had been charged the full £19 for the pleasure or the appalling lamb dish, not wanting to make a scene and having already raised the poor quality of the dish with the front of house staff, we paid and left. The group did however enjoy the ham hock and pork dishes and the pomme puree was delicious. The bill was around £200 so to be charged £19 for an inedible main is appalling and unfortunately was the groups lasting memory of the evening, so much so that I wouldn't visit again. Manchester is full of equally good restaurants, not many would have the audacity to charge, not notice in the kitchen, nor apologise for a dish so poor. The waitress agreed with us and merely said thanks for the feedback, she'd pass it onto the kitchen!!

The trees on the restaurant were amazing! And the beef cheek was beautiful

The restaurant is in the Midland Hotel and as such lacks a bit in atmosphere. Staff were friendly and welcoming and were fine when I wanted to move tables. Menu is modern and well priced. Once the lighting had dimmed a bit we felt we could relax. I started with salmon which was lovely and hubby had a vegetarian feast of cauliflower, quinoa pomegranate seeds and sweet potato. We both opted for a roast for the main course. Well it was Sunday. Both the beef and pork came with the same accompanying veg and garnish. I felt my pork would have benefited from some apple sauce. But overall a good plateful of food. We had booked the offer which resulted in a free bottle of wine. Portuguese and perfectly acceptable. No room for dessert. Decent enough meal but a bit lacking in atmosphere.
Enjoy a bottle of wine with our compliments when 2 people choose 2 courses from either our main or Sunday menus
