All the traditional treats are served on the Afternoon Tea at Mottram Hall menu, and come beautifully presented. To start, there are delicate finger sandwiches with gourmet fillings like Wiltshire ham and red pepper relish, and prawn and lime mayonnaise, moving on to home-baked plain and sultana scones served with Cornish clotted cream and red berry preserves.
A selection of expertly prepared desserts are also included at Mottram Hall in Macclesfield, such as chocolate and honeycomb pave, and Mottram signature fruit loaf. As well as selection of loose leaf teas, diners can opt for glasses of Veuve Clicquot Champagne, and even signature cocktails to add another level of indulgence to their meal.
Quintessentially British and a timeless choice, Afternoon Tea at Mottram Hall is a 10-minute drive from Adlington Rail Station.

Mottram Hall is in a beautiful setting and the Hall itself is lovely.
When we arrived, I told our waiter that I was mainly vegetarian and my 12 year old granddaughter had a nut allergy and didn't like ham. He told us we could choose from four fillings, ham, chicken, prawn and cheese, no alternatives were offered. My granddaughter decided to double up on the cheese and the chicken and I said I'd have the cheese and prawn. There was a choice of scone, fruit or plain, but this choice wasn't offered to us and I forgot to ask.
Our tea was brought first, in small teapots and no milk, which I had to ask for. The sandwiches arrived and one was ham, I do occasionally still have meat so decided I'd eat it, to avoid another wait.
When we got to the scones, they were both plain, but again, We decided to eat them, to avoid a wait. When we looked at the cakes, the eclair had pistachio nuts on the top! I went to find the waiter and told him, he apologised and he said he didn't remember me mentioning this. He asked my granddaughter which other cake she would like and duly brought it.
I had to ask for more tea and no more was ever offered, the waiter didn't come to ask if everything was alright.
All in all, a bit disappointing, especially given the calibre and reputation of the Hall, I expected better.

Unfortunately it wasn't up to scratch. We were expecting something much better from Mottram Hall. The sandwiches were the down point unfortunately- it felt like they were cheap supermarket ones! However the cakes were lovely and we enjoyed the tea! Service was a bit slow and we had to ask a few times but the gents were very nice.

We booked for afternoon tea in this beautiful hotel in the Cheshire countryside. It was a belated Mother's Day present from my daughter. On arrival we were told we were booked in the library room. After sitting down a different waitress informed us we were booked into the garden room. There were only two other couples in this room having afternoon tea. Our table was in a nice corner by the window overlooking the beautiful gardens. The waitress came in and informed us what was on the afternoon tea tray (we were not asked whether we wanted tea or coffee). We then ordered two glasses of Prosecco and waited....and waited. My husband eventually had to go and ask where our drinks were. After the reminder they arrived a few minutes later. By this time the other two couples had left. Eventually after around 30 minutes our tray arrived minus the pot of tea. With no staff in sight I had to go to the bar to ask where the tea was. The teapot then arrived, but no milk! The waitress, who was very nice and polite, explained she was standing in for the person who normally serves the afternoon tea guests. Also, to make matters worse, a large group of people who were all smoking, came and stood in front of our window blocking the view of the garden. Apparently they were on a conference. We told the waitress who asked them to move away. I'm afraid to us everything seemed chaotic and unprofessional. In a nutshell, the food was good, the surroundings beautiful, but the service bad! It spoilt what should have been a lovely day out.

Arrived to find we did not have a reservation. As a result we had to settle for a seat at the bar. The Booking website let us down and ruined the experience.

Booked afternoon tea at Mottram Hall as a mothers day surprise for my 97yr old mum. The setting is lovely which was helped by the weather being a glorious spring day. However the restaurant where the tea was booked didn't have much light and the windows were blocked by decoration so as the decor is dark it felt quite oppressive. There were only two other tables dinning when we arrived which decreased to just one as we ate. Granted it was 4pm but as there was no ambient music the noise from the waiters pottering about remaking the other tables for the evening meals was quite off putting, especially as we were sat next to one of the cutlery dispense trays. My mother had difficulty hearing my conversation particularly when the table opposite us had to be made into a table for six and the chairs were rearranged for the evening session. I have to say the food was very nice, plenty of cream cakes, three plus a plain scone each and a cream desert. But unfortunately we felt rushed by the general rushing of staff to prepare the dinning room we ended up taking a doggy bag home to get out of their way.
