Great food and big portions. We ate on the 2 eat for £39.99 deal, with a drink. And because we were also staying in the hotel the kids got 3 courses for free! So less than £100 for 7 of us to eat with drinks, tips and a few extra courses.

WE arrived and were very confused as to where the Restaurant seating area was, the open plan idea is horrible, no sense of a special eating area. We eventually had to ask a Bar person for help, she wandered off leaving us in the middle of the "AREA", we selected some seats at a table and she brought us some menus. Then she wandered off again without asking if we wanted any drinks. After about 4 minutes she returned but by this time my wife and I had decided that if this was the service on offer then how long would we wait for food etc. We left and found a great pub close by with great service, food and atmosphere. The whole place feels more like an airport longe than a great destination to eat and relax!

overall the food was lovely, although we hate having it served on wooden chopping boards, i had calamari to start it was so tender.

There were three staff at the counter when we arrived. One went off to seat a couple who'd just arrived and the remaining two were using a computer. This they did for a few minutes without acknowledging our presence. It wouldn't have hurt for them to say that they would only be a moment. We were seated by a young trainee who insisted on being quite over familiar and calling us "guys" as if we'd entered a fast food place rather than a smart brasserie. We ordered and the food arrived (albeit slowly considering that there were only two other couples there). My partner had the vegan curry which was ok, nothing outstanding, but was served in a cold tagine. I had the steak suet pudding as I hadn't had one for years. I was surprised (not pleasantly) that a dish with gravy had turned up on a board instead of a plate. Really? Again, the food was ok, not outstanding but being served on a plank did nothing to make it appear more appetising. We decided to forego a dessert and leave.
I went to pay the bill and pointed the above out to the chap who took payment. He removed the service charge and offered us a drink at the bar but we declined and left, frankly, disappointed.

The staff know us quite well so we do certainly feel wanted. The food is very good and consistent and whilst they mixed up on one of the main courses they dealt with the error very well and thoughtfully.
It’s a nice atmosphere on a Sunday at lunchtime and we had a very pleasant time. Very good food but even better service

We eat regularly at the Holiday Inn but when they changed the Sunday lunch menu it didn't quite suit us. With the menu reverting back to what we were use to we tried the restaurant again.
Excellent and attentive service from staff who have been at the Holiday Inn for some time and the food was very good. Overall a very pleasant experience and not expensive. With easy parking and lifts it works well for our 90 year old mother.
    Well done Holiday Inn winchester

Spacious surroundings, modern and clean. Afternoon tea beautifully presented and a very reasonable price. Just the right amount of food and plenty of teapot refills.
