An absolutely wonderful experience, contributed by friendly, well informed staff, and innovative and superb cooking.We opted for the 4 course lunch menu where the monkfish main and blackberry pudding were the outstanding dishes. A very interesting and full wine list. Would love to go back.

A Grade II-listed, 16th-century building, Moor Hall Ormskirk sits within 5 acres of breath-taking gardens. Awarded 2 Michelin stars in the 2019 Michelin Guide as well as 5 AA Rosettes, Mark Birchall has created a menu that showcases his own style of modern British cooking, using produce grown on the estate, as well as local suppliers.
Rich, inventive dishes on the Moor Hall menu include aged beef in charcoal with barbecued celeriac, roasted monkfish with garlic and mussel cream, or Herdwick lamb loin with sweetbread, Jerusalem artichokes and stout vinegar. Three, five and eight-course tasting menus allow diners to experience the full range of flavours on offer.
Moor Hall restaurant in Lancashire is also home to a cheese room housing some of the best British and Irish farmhouse cheeses, as well as a wine cellar housing an extensive collection of world wines.
Offering fine dining in a stunning setting, Moor Hall near Aughton is a short drive from both Town Green and Aughton Park rail stations.

Fabulous experience from start to finish! Great attention to detail throughout, and the Moor Hall team ensured our whole journey was spot on. A tour of the garden and produce area and seeing the intimacies of the kitchen sets you up for a delightful dining experience. Staff were just the right amount of attentive and friendly, very knowledgable too and highly trained. The food was simply divine.

Overall an excellent experience, the food was top notch as you would expect; dare I say better than a certain other 'M Star' establishment in the North West beginning with L. The £95 wine parring was also excellent and we were able to share one between a couple; something worth considering if you can't handle the 8 glasses! The service was very friendly and welcoming. A negative was that the time between courses was a bit rushed, particularly as the restaurant started to fill up. We had to slow this down ourselves and I'm sure that the staff didn't mind accommodating this request when asked. Restaurant was a little cool next to the cheese room due to the vent above the doorway to this room.

Very good in general with the usual courteous and friendly service. The new sauce accompanying the main course fish was considered to be inferior to the excellent mussel broth. The individual courses are always enjoyable but I wonder whether there will be greater diversification in the future, so that a return every few months would mean a largely different menu. Prices are perhaps reaching a ceiling!

Mark, Nicolas and the whole team delivered one of the finest meals I have ever eaten - quality, imagination, supreme technique, knowledge. A truly outstanding lunch. The only question now is when Moor Hall receives its third Michelin star, as I have no doubt that it is fully deserved
