Lovely Afternoon Tea
04 April 2018
Perched on the dramatic Dorset coast, and with a stunning terrace overlooking Chesil Beach, Moonfleet Manor is a charming country house setting for AA Rosette-winning cuisine. British and Mediterranean flavours sit side by side on the menu, with indulgent afternoon teas offered with all the classic trimmings.
Locally sourced delicacies go into the Chesil Beach menu, with an exciting blend of traditional British and tastes from the continent featured throughout. Rabbit terrine is served with apricot and shallot chutney and pistachio crackers, while fresh regional seafood includes Portland crab and scallops from Lyme Bay. Traditional tastes from Italy feature in the pasta range, with indulgent combinations of gorgonzola, chilli and dried ham.
Afternoon tea at Moonfleet Manor in Weymouth features delectable homemade scones, as well as expertly crafted cakes and pastries. Diners can add in a glass of bubbles for an added treat, and there are also fine wines from the bar, as well as local ales for those wanting to sample another taste of the area.
With spectacular local surroundings and filled with historic charm, Moonfleet Manor is just 6 miles from Weymouth.

We visited the hotel for afternoon tea using a gift voucher. In the brief time we were there we found the relaxed ambience and friendleness of the staff very refreshing. The quality and quantity of the tea was excellent. It was a very hot day, so perhaps a slight dryness of the bread could be excused.
We would seriously consider visiting the hotel for a longer stay. .

Had a lovely birthday lunch here, with the wife and her parents.
All dishes well cooked and very tasty and on the whole the portions were resonably large, although the Sea Bass could have been bigger
3 courses with wine, tea and coffee just short of £200 so not cheap for Dorset and at that price I would have expected slightly better service, for example the teas and coffees were served before the dessert but that really was my only and minor criticism
If you want a special meal give it a try

A lovely afternoon tea with champagne to celebrate a friends special birthday. We asked if we could sit in the restaurant with the lovely views which the staff arranged for us. It was very enjoyable.

We had afternoon tea at moonfleet manor. The overall experience was good but I do have a few things thta could be improved upon. The afternoon tea arrived quickly and was very well presented on a stand. However, we were not given the choice drink, tea or coffee. So tea it was. Then we noted that the small cups containing the panacotta were dirty on the outside. The squares of chocolate moose were divine but mine had no biscuit base which made it rather impossible to get off the stand. And last but not least, we felt it would have been nice if someone could have come and asked if everything was ok. On the up side, we enjoyed our treat very much.

The afternoon tea was very enjoyable as a celebratory treat for my wife's birthday, although I would recommend more savoury items as there were too many cakes. The one disappointment though was the automatic addition of 10% service charge to the bill which in this day and age I believe is wrong. Service charge should be earned and not taken for granted. Sadly this influences my decision to return soon.
