One of the oldest French restaurants in London, 2 AA Rosette award-winning Mon Plaisir on Monmouth Street has been serving delectable French cuisine for over half a century.
Decorated in French artefacts, Mon Plaisir - London resonates with a nostalgic atmosphere of decadent France throughout its 4 individual dining rooms. Mon Plaisir also features a pewter topped bar which once graced the lounge of a Lyonnaise brothel.
Mon Plaisir Covent Garden continues to serve traditional cuisine created from the finest French ingredients and carefully prepared by the restaurant’s highly skilled chefs. Signature dishes include snails in garlic and parsley butter and the fillet of sea bream with mustard sauce, exuding a real French flair. There is also a slick wine list which predominantly features fine French wines.
With its fine French food and authentic ambience, Mon Plaisir is just a 7-minute walk from Covent Garden Tube Station. Mon Plaisir has been acknowledged in fine restaurant guides, including Hardens, Square Meal, Via Michelin and The Good Food Guide.

We booked for a Pre Theatre supper at 17.45, arrived just before and told them that we needed to leave by 18.55 latest
Starters were good but arrived before the wine (expensive at over £40 for a Beaujolais) and asked three times before the water came
Friendly staff but service appalling it took them almost an hour to prepare our main courses which were very poor
Steak was broiled and tasteless and forgot the chips, duck was overcooked and not nice; all in all very poor standard
None of the staff seemed to care; they happily removed the service charge but you would have thought that they would have asked why
So overall don't go there if you like good food
Don't go there for a pre theatre supper

Second visit. This time for lunch with guests. Great deal, excellent food, service and ambiance. Staff are polite, friendly and very efficient. Portions were just right. Guests enjoyed the 3 course lunch menu which featured as a Star Deal. I chose escargots and cabillaud. Great.

The service was good. The sea bass and the tarte tatin were excellent. My companion also enjoyed the risotto.

Good food, friendly service. Tables too close to each other. Touching elbows with the next table. A large cheese tray stored next to our table made it a rather smelly experience throughout.
