One of the oldest French restaurants in London, 2 AA Rosette award-winning Mon Plaisir on Monmouth Street has been serving delectable French cuisine for over half a century.

Decorated in French artefacts, Mon Plaisir - London resonates with a nostalgic atmosphere of decadent France throughout its 4 individual dining rooms. Mon Plaisir also features a pewter topped bar which once graced the lounge of a Lyonnaise brothel.

Mon Plaisir Covent Garden continues to serve traditional cuisine created from the finest French ingredients and carefully prepared by the restaurant’s highly skilled chefs. Signature dishes include snails in garlic and parsley butter and the fillet of sea bream with mustard sauce, exuding a real French flair. There is also a slick wine list which predominantly features fine French wines.

With its fine French food and authentic ambience, Mon Plaisir is just a 7-minute walk from Covent Garden Tube Station. Mon Plaisir has been acknowledged in fine restaurant guides, including Hardens, Square Meal, Via Michelin and The Good Food Guide.

charming restaurant right in the middle of the West End but with a family feel - very reasonably priced. Excellent service. Loved it.

Food and service good. Great location for theatre. Found the accordion player slightly too touristy but recognise the location for visitors makes it expected.

Unfortunately, the meal was not good. The starter of cheese and beetroot salad was badly presented. The cheese was stale and almost impossible to cut. The salad was too vinegary. The main course of risotto was tasteless. The garnishing of the risotto was also tasteless. If the meal had been served in a cheap café, complaints would have been made.

I was celebrating my 60th birthday with my family. The restaurant is lovely. Excellent service and friendly staff. They even put up a birthday banner for me and brought a cake with candles. Everyone enjoyed the food and we had such a lovely evening. I would definitely like to return and would recommend Mon Plaisir to friends and family.

We were a party of four - we chose from the pre theatre menu but my husband had to have the french onion soup as he remembered from the last time how delicious it was.

We booked for a Pre Theatre supper at 17.45, arrived just before and told them that we needed to leave by 18.55 latest
Starters were good but arrived before the wine (expensive at over £40 for a Beaujolais) and asked three times before the water came
Friendly staff but service appalling it took them almost an hour to prepare our main courses which were very poor
Steak was broiled and tasteless and forgot the chips, duck was overcooked and not nice; all in all very poor standard
None of the staff seemed to care; they happily removed the service charge but you would have thought that they would have asked why
So overall don't go there if you like good food
Don't go there for a pre theatre supper
