Restaurant description

With an interior of plush red leather furnishings and dark woods, Miller & Carter Gloucester is a smart yet relaxed steakhouse that showcases a superb selection of gourmet British flavours, fronted by its British and Irish steaks, and polished wine list.

The Miller & Carter menu is led by hand-cut, 30-day aged steaks, all carefully sourced from sustainable British & Irish farms, and expertly cooked. Favourite cuts span from a deliciously tender grass-fed Ribeye, aged for 50 days for a rich, buttery flavour, to a luxurious sharing chateaubriand. Other Miller & Carter signature dishes include smoky barbecue ribs with seasoned fries & dressed slaw, and a pork fillet wrapped in bacon with apple 3 ways served with dauphinoise potato, green beans and roasted Mediterranean-style vegetables.

To finish, sweet indulgences include chocolate hazelnut bomb, an indulgent, rich chocolate ganache encased in toasted hazelnuts and chocolate nibs, served with pecan praline ice cream and zesty orange curd. The Miller & Carter cellar is brimming with drinks designed to complement the menu, including chilled draught and bottled beers, crafted cocktails and an impressive wine list of rich reds and sparkling wines.

Serving gourmet British flavours in a timeless setting, Miller & Carter Gloucester is a 17-minute drive from central Gloucester.

I was put off my meal when I saw a waitress use tongs to add fresh salad to plates , tap the tongs on the inside of a bin then replace the tongs in the fresh salad container .

I came here with my husband and two friends. It was busy but we were dealt with efficiently and our table was ready for us after an approx 15 minute wait. No matter, we had a drink at the bar but was disappointed to find that a kir was not available that night. I had one on a previous visit so was a little surprised. My husband also was not given a choice of malt whiskers but I put this down to a rookie barman. Our meals were good apart from two things. The calamari was overcooked and none of us had seen it cut into small pieces so it was a little disappointing. Also, those who were eating steaks had a lump of salad put before them in a bowl, which didn't look very appetising. It was a case of will you carve or shall I? It didn't get eaten I'm afraid. Having said that the steaks, the ribs and the chicken were all cooked perfectly and were absolutely delicious.

The Restaurant was clean, the glasses were sparkling, it’s not many places you can go and say the glasses are clean. The service was good, staff were polite and helpful, the food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. Our waitress Zoe was lovely nothing was too much trouble for her. We will definitely be going again, probably won’t bother going anywhere else now.
