A grand pub and steakhouse backing onto a large open green space, Miller & Carter Basingstoke serves a great selection of British steaks and other grill specialities. There is plenty of al fresco seating to enjoy dining in the sunshine, and an extensive drinks menu filled with fine wines and classic cocktails.

The Miller & Carter menu is led by hand-cut, 30-day aged steaks, all carefully sourced from sustainable British & Irish farms, and expertly cooked. Favourite cuts span from a deliciously tender grain-fed sirloin, aged for 50 days for a rich, buttery flavour, to a luxurious sharing chateaubriand. Other Miller & Carter signature dishes include smoky barbecue ribs with seasoned fries & dressed slaw, and lemon & rosemary lamb rump served with dauphinoise potatoes, sautéed exotic mushrooms & tenderstem broccoli.

To finish, sweet indulgences include Miller’s chocolate orange: a shimmering golden globe with ganache and orange toffee. The cellar at Miller & Carter in Basingstoke is brimming with drinks designed to complement the menu, including chilled draught and bottled beers, crafted cocktails and an impressive wine list of rich reds and sparkling wines.

A versatile eatery that also serves gluten-free menus, Miller & Carter Basingstoke is an 8-minute drive from Basingstoke Rail Station.

Booked a table on line ,very efficient. Once seated the food and drinks came very quick. Very nice decoration and comfortable surrounds. The steaks are cooked beautifully and are the size you would expect to paye for the price.A couple of small details that let the meal down though,as follows, only a quarter slice of a tomato with the meal, which i felt made it look tight and mean! The other small thing was the dressing on the wedge that comes with the meal was ungenerous.

The food was tremendous but the service was not. The wine waiter tried to assure me that the wine I ordered was good because "it is 14% by vol and I always a wine by that". When I commented that I expected the wine to be a little more ruby coliured, he then proceeded to advise me that you can't get dark red wines from France because it "doesn't get hot enough". I ordered the ChateauNeuf-du-pape. Even the 2015 (which is what they had) is a pretty good wine.

I ordered a tonic and lime. Don't know what they actually brought but it certainly wasn't what I asked. The waitress and aforementioned waiter both tried to tell me that it was. When I asked to have it replaced the waitress then said that they didn't have any lime. Anyone else see the flaw here???

We ordered the chateaubriand and it was excellent. Meat quality was great and cooked to perfection.

The dining experience was very good. There were three of us and we all had something different - steak, chicken and burger. All were excellent - and the fries were delicious. Although the restaurant was busy we didn't wait long for our food. All the waiting staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant was comfortable and although busy didn't seem crowded. An all round great evening.

Really impressed with the quality and taste of the vegetarian optoons. As you are know for your steaks I was really happy the the meal that my daughter chose was excellent as encountered in so many establishments.

It was ok. A bit expensive, for what it offered. Service was slow. Would not rush back, there are better places in the surrounding area.

Nice restaurant with a friendly welcome on arrival. Good menu with some different choices. Starters were excellent. However the main meals for two of the diners were very disappointing. A steak was sent back twice to achieve well done but even then wasn’t right. It was eaten but only because all other diners had finished. Ribs were huge, tough and pretty tasteless. The entire plate was dominated by the ribs as the minuscule portion of fries and coleslaw were barely noticeable. 20 minutes for dessert order to be taken, drinks took a similar time. We were in the restaurant for 2 hours 15 minutes and of that time, only maybe 20 minutes was spent eating. All in all, unlikely to go back in preference to where we normally dine.
