Excellent overall. Pre-dinner cocktails were lovely and we were very fortunate with our table allocation in the spacious downstairs restaurant. All the staff were absolutely brilliant. Oh, and the food was jolly good too. It's up, or down, a very steep hill, but if travelling by taxi you can reassure the driver that there is space to turn just outside the building itself.

2nd time for us at Michael Neave's. The ribeye steak was excellent and one of the best I've ever had. All the other dishes were of a high quality as well. Overall the restaurant strikes a nice balance between an informal approach and great food, especially on a Fringe day/night out when you'll be wearing more casual attire. With the bar and outside sitting area to have a drink before or after the meal, in a quiet side street in Edinburgh I thoroughly recommend the restaurant.

Fantastic meal at Michael Neave. Lovely warm welcome and all staff were friendly. Nice table in a corner setting. Great menu choices (I had scallops - delicious - followed by sea bream, but good choices also available for carnivores and vegetarians!). The desserts were probably the most interesting bit of the menu - we could have gone for all of them, but decided on the sticky toffee soufflé which was amazing! Highly recommended and for the quality competitively priced.

Excellent food. One friend thought what she had chosen was very nice but minuscule portions for every course.

Wonderful food and lovely relaxed atmosphere. The venison was without doubt the best main course I have ever eaten. Staff were knowledgeable and attentive. Fantastic experience! Cocktails and whisky menu added something a bit extra.
