Restaurant description

Mews of Mayfair is a unique hideaway, tucked away in an historic courtyard which houses a first-floor brasserie and a pizzeria.

Above the courtyard bar is Mews of Mayfair's first floor brasserie. Bright and elegant, the menu ranges from classic fish and chips to a large number of vegetarian, vegan and gluten- free options.

Decked out with extravagant chandeliers and large leather sofas, the Mews of Mayfair bar boasts an impressive wine list and an array of signature cocktails. Outdoor seating is also available in the cobbled courtyard.

Overlooking the bustling courtyard on the opposite side is Mews Pizza Co. This welcoming pizzeria is flooded with natural light, and serves a menu which changes with the seasons.

Afternoon tea has been created by Pastry Chef Terri, who ensures each vegan sweet treat tastes as good as it looks. Served in the stylish Cocktail Bar, this afternoon tea also features home-made rich fruit and plain scones and cakes including the lemon and lavender cucpakes and chamomile cream tarts.

Loved the relaxed atmosphere both in the bar downstairs and the dining room upstairs, and the cosy location tucked away in a quiet mews just off Bond Street. Service was very friendly and attentive, food was excellent (creamy parsnip soup followed by sea bass on black rice) and the Viognier very enjoyable too. 3-course lunch menu was terrific value.

The menu we booked for wasn't given to us so we decided to buy something off the original menu. The restaurant was completely empty and the staff were friendly but because we were the only ones there they were a little overbearing and kept coming up and asking if we were ok.

Sandwiches in the Afternoon Tea were bland. We were sat in a dark room and relatively ignored. I had to ask for more tea/hot water.

Came here for the £25 Restaurant Festival menu, it was okay, portion was a bit small (possibly because it was the restaurant festival menu?). Food came slow, had to chase and wait for about 20-30mins between dishes. Dessert was nice. Okay for the price.

We had afternoon tea, the booking was straightforward and staff polite and attentive. We made out choice of tea but it came in a glass tea pot which meant the tea was neither hot for long nor did it brew properly. In fact, there was not much of it in the teapot to begin with either. We had extra pot of hot water on the side but as there was not much tea in the pot it was slightly pointless. I also had to request sugar as our table was the only one without a sugar pot. I found the whole menu unimaginative, the savoury items included quiche and a guacamole sandwich which were nice but something that can be bought at any supermarket. The roast pepper sandwich was tasty and the chili crayfish wrap was the best dish by far. I requested a vegetarian option but apart from a mini burger all the items were the same for everyone. The scones were fine but I guess you can't really go wrong there. The sweets were all, without exception, chocolate flavoured so if that's not your favourite thing in the world you're stuffed! Again, we had supermarket style profiteroles and cup cakes. And there was a macaroon which was ok. The best item was this chocolate mousse with dark chocolate top layer and salted caramel sauce with tiny crumble on top. I would not go back for afternoon tea.

Came here for afternoon tea, what a great find, good ambiance and the tea was a good combination of sweet and savoury (the best savoury selection from all the teas I've had previously). Special mention to the good service and my family and I noted all the delicious lunches we saw people eating on the way out.

Really lovely afternoon tea in a gorgeous little room - highly recommend. There was 4 of us and my Mum and I had the gluten-free version. We had booked ahead through afternoontea.co.uk so we could get a 25% discount however the booking didn't seem to get to them, but it was no trouble at all and we still got the discount : )
