One of Soho's most sought-after destinations, Mele e Pere blends Italian gastronomy and an on-trend setting. Retro Anglepoise wall lamps and an apothecary-style bar lend an old-school vibe, and the dining room features quirky retro design throughout.

Heading the kitchen, Andrea Mantovani offers a playful mix of classic and modern trattoria dishes. A daily-changing selection ensures optimum freshness, with Mele e Pere menu favourites including braised rabbit with polenta, or gnocchi with mussels and clams. Eclectic artisanal sharing plates are also offered at Mele e Pere in London.

Perfectly in tune with the edginess and vibrancy of Soho, basement bar dwellers can sample Mele e Pere restaurant’s homemade vermouth for a traditional Italian tipple. A lengthy list of Italian wines complements the rustic, natural flavours.

Translating as ‘apples and pears’, Mele e Pere in Soho brings a quirky yet refined eatery to one of London’s liveliest areas. Piccadilly Circus Tube Station is a 4-minute walk away.

Lovely food at excellent prices. The lamb rump was the best we have ever had in a restaurant. It was cooked to perfection. Attentive staff. The restaurant was downstairs and it was a tad noisy.

We love this restaurant but this visit was disappointing. The building noise from above is very intrusive yet they seemed reluctant to seat people downstairs. The 3 course set menu didn't seem to be available (it normally is). And the lunchtime special gratin wasn't properly heated and tbh I could have done a nicer one myself. We will be back but not until the building has finished.

We were seated straight away, and immediately given water and menus, including the offer we had booked. The service was attentive, and the food was excellent. Excellent value for money. Would definitely return.

Not good service starter was uneatable - so not a good start to evening and we did complain and nothing was noted.

Lousy! Booked a table for 3 at 5pm for pre-theatre meal. Place was deserted apart from one guy behind the counter who knew nothing about the booking and the main dining area was closed. He pushed two tables together and took our order. We waited ages and were not all served at the same time. Food was cold. Portions and drinks (vermouth) were tiny. People who ordered after us were served before us and had full plates and glasses. Won't eat here again.

Enjoyable three course meal with glass of prosecco and wine for less than £30 per head. Good service that was attentative but not suffocating. Starter of bruschetta with sardine as really tasty as was porchetta. Main course of salmon was well cooked and squid with pasta and tomatoes was really tasty. Not large portions but just about right. Desert was a bit minimal in choice but tasty nonetheless. Sat upstairs which was a bit cold and soulless would have preferred a table downstairs of which there were plenty.
