One of Soho's most sought-after destinations, Mele e Pere blends Italian gastronomy and an on-trend setting. Retro Anglepoise wall lamps and an apothecary-style bar lend an old-school vibe, and the dining room features quirky retro design throughout.

Heading the kitchen, Andrea Mantovani offers a playful mix of classic and modern trattoria dishes. A daily-changing selection ensures optimum freshness, with Mele e Pere menu favourites including braised rabbit with polenta, or gnocchi with mussels and clams. Eclectic artisanal sharing plates are also offered at Mele e Pere in London.

Perfectly in tune with the edginess and vibrancy of Soho, basement bar dwellers can sample Mele e Pere restaurant’s homemade vermouth for a traditional Italian tipple. A lengthy list of Italian wines complements the rustic, natural flavours.

Translating as ‘apples and pears’, Mele e Pere in Soho brings a quirky yet refined eatery to one of London’s liveliest areas. Piccadilly Circus Tube Station is a 4-minute walk away.

We were made to feel very welcome, and loved the informal relaxed atmosphere. We shared calamari, which were delicious and not at all chewy, followed by wild mushrooms with pasta in a beautiful creamy sauce. Good house wine and attentive but not instrusive service.

Definitely try the range of Vermouths (including a couple of homemade options) - especially as they're 2-for-1 before 7pm.
Food was brilliant, highlight being the sharing plates of Burrata and pigs head soppressata, although everything was delicious.
Get a table downstairs if you can, the basements bigger, livelier and feels a bit more special than street-level.

Mele e Pere is a tranquil oasis in bustling Soho. Great for a catch up with a friend. There was an excellent choice of veggie and fish dishes for starters and mains on their special menu. The Tuscan soup (which was actually a thick vegetable stew) was delicious. My friend raved about the sea bream. The £20 also included dessert and prosecco which was very good value. The cheese option for dessert looked and tasted amazing.

As always it was a real treat to have lunch in Mele e Pere. My fellow diner really knows her food and has been to many outstanding restaurants so I hoped that she would be happy with Mele e Pere... She was! When we arrived, we were warmly greeted and staff expressed regret that there were no tables at ground level. However we were soon happily settled in the lower level and given our complimentary glasses of bubbly. We were keen to try the Vermouths as well because I had enjoyed them on a previous occasion. This we did and our waiter was knowledgeable and obliging. The menu was delicious and unusual. And the staff were charming and accommodating about my gluten intolerance and very willing to change things around on the set menu to make sure I was not fed gluten (I was not!)
It was a delightful lunch, very reasonaly priced and I felt pleased to be able to introduce my guest to somewhere new which she enjoyed.

Good atmosphere, full (good on a Wednesday) and delicious food. Pretty good value too.

We've been here several times before. The £20 incl. a glass of fizz is an incredible deal with a good choice of starters and desserts. Always love the food. The buratta was creamy and plentiful for starters with a small salad. The venison was fab, great flavours and easily sufficient. The ice cream was, well, ice cream. Wines are reasonably priced. One day we'll work our way through the Vermouths. Downstairs was full which didn't bother us as it gets very noisy. Upstairs was fine, but lacked ambience. Service was attentive and timely. All in all, can't wait for the next offer. (shame about the scaffolding outside, but it didn't detract from the food!).

I visited Mele a Pere before a show at the nearby London Palladium. I had booked a table for one at 5.00pm with the three courses plus a glass of prosecco offer. I had tuna carpaccio followed by roasted sea bream and then tiramisu. All three courses were excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive. My only criticism was that service was a little too fast. I had finished my starter and main course by 5.30pm, but when I asked for a few minutes’ break before ordering dessert it was greeted with a friendly “yes of course, sir”. I suppose the speed was only to be expected when I was occupying a table on my own with the restaurant fully booked and people coming in wanting tables. It certainly did not spoil my enjoyment of an excellent meal and I will definitely go back to Mele a Pere and have already recommended it to others.
