One of Soho's most sought-after destinations, Mele e Pere blends Italian gastronomy and an on-trend setting. Retro Anglepoise wall lamps and an apothecary-style bar lend an old-school vibe, and the dining room features quirky retro design throughout.

Heading the kitchen, Andrea Mantovani offers a playful mix of classic and modern trattoria dishes. A daily-changing selection ensures optimum freshness, with Mele e Pere menu favourites including braised rabbit with polenta, or gnocchi with mussels and clams. Eclectic artisanal sharing plates are also offered at Mele e Pere in London.

Perfectly in tune with the edginess and vibrancy of Soho, basement bar dwellers can sample Mele e Pere restaurant’s homemade vermouth for a traditional Italian tipple. A lengthy list of Italian wines complements the rustic, natural flavours.

Translating as ‘apples and pears’, Mele e Pere in Soho brings a quirky yet refined eatery to one of London’s liveliest areas. Piccadilly Circus Tube Station is a 4-minute walk away.

    Great food and wine

Food was good but service (though friendly) was slow & inefficient. I ordered a vermouth aperitif which hadn't arrived after 15-20 mins (despite restaurant being virtually empty) so ordered another from the bar. It tasted of soap. The original vermouth then arrived, so I inadvertently doubled up on the aperitif front (though tbf the 2nd drink - passed on to my daughter - was offered on the house). Meanwhile, white wine ordered to drink with the meals had arrived, so it sat & lost its chill while we polished off the vermouth & waited for the meals to arrive. Waiter had no idea which wines to recommend with our chosen meals. 3 of us ordered mains (grilled octopus/saffron risotto with scallops & clams/polenta burrata) + desserts a la carte. Foccacia bread & olives extra. Portions were adequate if not generous. Quality of food was high but £121 (inc wine + vermouth + service) seemed, at the end, a little pricey for the food & the experience we had.

The food is amazing and the service is good. It's a great place for a drink and talk with friends.

Delicious food! Very good experience and attentive service. Only note on the portion - Portion of prosciutto with gnocchi fritti was really small, only 2 gnocchi. It didnt feel right in relation to the cost of the dish. Particularly if you want to recreate a real italian experience for aperitif.

Went for lunch with an old friend on the £20 and a glass of prsecco menu. We weren't expecting much at that price but the food was actually very good. In fact the lamb rump was some of the best I have ever had at any price.Perfectly cooked and very tender.
Atmosphere was lively Italian and the Italian who greeted us and chatted with us was very knowledgable and interesting on all things Italian and foodie. Wine list is reasonable and interestingly Italian for a change.
