Restaurant description
One of Soho's most sought-after destinations, Mele e Pere blends Italian gastronomy and an on-trend setting. Retro Anglepoise wall lamps and an apothecary-style bar lend an old-school vibe, and the dining room features quirky retro design throughout.
Heading the kitchen, Andrea Mantovani offers a playful mix of classic and modern trattoria dishes. A daily-changing selection ensures optimum freshness, with Mele e Pere menu favourites including braised rabbit with polenta, or gnocchi with mussels and clams. Eclectic artisanal sharing plates are also offered at Mele e Pere in London.
Perfectly in tune with the edginess and vibrancy of Soho, basement bar dwellers can sample Mele e Pere restaurant’s homemade vermouth for a traditional Italian tipple. A lengthy list of Italian wines complements the rustic, natural flavours.
Translating as ‘apples and pears’, Mele e Pere in Soho brings a quirky yet refined eatery to one of London’s liveliest areas. Piccadilly Circus Tube Station is a 4-minute walk away.

Excellent food, excellent value and try out the vermouth bar downstairs whilst you are there.

It was a really lovely relaxing lunch. I was with an old friend and we hadn't met for some months. We were able to catch up, not rushed at all and delicious food and drinks were served by extremely pleasant and helpful staff. I am gluten intolerant but they completely understood the problem and dealt with it. We'll be back soon!

Reasonable restaurant- a bit noisy and staff not good at explaining the menus. Food ok - but nothing to write home about (other than the starter salad in the set menu)

We were disappointed really. It was busy as it was Chinese New Year but the service was poor. My Truffle Pasta dish was lovely but our friends seafood pasta had all empty shells and no seafood.

Gave it a try after reading the mixed reviews and have to say I agree with a lot of the negative feelings about the food. It's great that you can book a table in Soho if you're meeting friends and the room upstairs is cool, drinks are very good too. Calamari - not sure if it was cooked properly as it had a funny texture, broccoli with burrata was plain boiled no real flavour to it, could do with some olive oil and salt added to it. My pasta was super thick and the sauce was quite rich - goats cheese cream with walnuts so it sat in the stomach. Tiramisu was good. Probably wouldn't go back .

Fabulous food. Great location. I had the cacio e pepe on one day and the ragu the next day. Both were sensational. Music was quite loud, but upon request was turned down. Good playlist of 80s/90s music. Perfect choice of atmosphere for this venue.
