Restaurant description

One of Soho's most sought-after destinations, Mele e Pere blends Italian gastronomy and an on-trend setting. Retro Anglepoise wall lamps and an apothecary-style bar lend an old-school vibe, and the dining room features quirky retro design throughout.

Heading the kitchen, Andrea Mantovani offers a playful mix of classic and modern trattoria dishes. A daily-changing selection ensures optimum freshness, with Mele e Pere menu favourites including braised rabbit with polenta, or gnocchi with mussels and clams. Eclectic artisanal sharing plates are also offered at Mele e Pere in London.

Perfectly in tune with the edginess and vibrancy of Soho, basement bar dwellers can sample Mele e Pere restaurant’s homemade vermouth for a traditional Italian tipple. A lengthy list of Italian wines complements the rustic, natural flavours.

Translating as ‘apples and pears’, Mele e Pere in Soho brings a quirky yet refined eatery to one of London’s liveliest areas. Piccadilly Circus Tube Station is a 4-minute walk away.

Great dining space downstairs - definitely opt for a dining table downstairs if possible to enjoy a a relaxing and atmospheric meal. We chose from the pre-theatre menu which meant service was swift and we’d finished 3 delicious courses within just over an hour but with friendly, attentive service (despite being quite quick we didn’t feel rushed at all and ate leisurely). The choices were carefully curated with simple, seasonal flavours - the grilled grouse was a perfect autumnal dish that i would certainly look for again. Portions were just right for 3 courses, leaving you with a cosy satisfied feeling rather than having overeaten or causing waste. Really lovely birthday dinner and can’t wait to visit again.

Really lovely Italian food, the £20 set menu with a glass of fizz is seriously good value. Highly recommend the ragu pasta and for pudding the taleggio cheese. Definitely going back.

Great location, close to theatreland and central London. Good service, good food and reasonable price. The only negative is that the set menu mains course choice does not include enough meat dishes.

This restaurant has a good value 'star deal' offering 3 courses (from a set menu) and a glass of bubbly for £20. To be honest though I was a bit underwhelmed by the first two courses (the main - pasta with walnut pesto was a bit too rich), but the dessert (tiramisu) was delicious. The restaurant itself looks nice, but if you're seated downstairs it does get very noisy. Service was average.

Lovely restaurant with friendly staff. We got the £20 offer and was pleased enough. Mains were on the under seasoned side and dessert was stodgy but starter was delicious. Great value for money for a different Italian experience in London. Would recommend!
