Restaurant description

One of Soho's most sought-after destinations, Mele e Pere blends Italian gastronomy and an on-trend setting. Retro Anglepoise wall lamps and an apothecary-style bar lend an old-school vibe, and the dining room features quirky retro design throughout.

Heading the kitchen, Andrea Mantovani offers a playful mix of classic and modern trattoria dishes. A daily-changing selection ensures optimum freshness, with Mele e Pere menu favourites including braised rabbit with polenta, or gnocchi with mussels and clams. Eclectic artisanal sharing plates are also offered at Mele e Pere in London.

Perfectly in tune with the edginess and vibrancy of Soho, basement bar dwellers can sample Mele e Pere restaurant’s homemade vermouth for a traditional Italian tipple. A lengthy list of Italian wines complements the rustic, natural flavours.

Translating as ‘apples and pears’, Mele e Pere in Soho brings a quirky yet refined eatery to one of London’s liveliest areas. Piccadilly Circus Tube Station is a 4-minute walk away.

It's an amazing deal, food very lovely. Service was very slow, but we had the time to spare - luckily

Really great pasta. The star deal was great value and I would highly recommend it. Service could have been a bit better, it was pretty slow for a lunch time session.

The starter of burrata was very good, but the main course of Bigoli with pork sausage meat was dire - totally flavourless. I was expecting something with a nice rich tomato sauce, not just a pile of sausage meat. It really was one of the worse pasta dishes I have had out in a long time. At £17.50 for two courses I would have expected much better. Furthermore, the on-tap Prosecco was not available so wecould not have the half litre carafe option at £19 and had a bottle instead for which they charged us £35. Also for a pre-theatre dinner the service was a bit on the slow side. We had to enquire where our main courses had got to and then also chivvy them along for the bill.

Generally very good. The staff were lovely. Food on the whole was great except the lobster pappardelle wasn’t seasoned. But one we’d added salt it was tasty. Starters were excellent!

Great set menu options for a pre-theatre meal. All food very delicious; portion sizes smallish (but that's usually the case). Good value for money and service was very friendly and efficient (i.e. they kept an eye on us and ensured we were finished at the requested time!).

Great selection available on the menu, enjoyed the meal. Not rushed. We could hear one another speak.

Food was good overall although the service wasn’t very efficient or particularly friendly. We had to ask for the bill 3 times - and the restaurant was very quiet. Good music!
