Restaurant description

One of Soho's most sought-after destinations, Mele e Pere blends Italian gastronomy and an on-trend setting. Retro Anglepoise wall lamps and an apothecary-style bar lend an old-school vibe, and the dining room features quirky retro design throughout.

Heading the kitchen, Andrea Mantovani offers a playful mix of classic and modern trattoria dishes. A daily-changing selection ensures optimum freshness, with Mele e Pere menu favourites including braised rabbit with polenta, or gnocchi with mussels and clams. Eclectic artisanal sharing plates are also offered at Mele e Pere in London.

Perfectly in tune with the edginess and vibrancy of Soho, basement bar dwellers can sample Mele e Pere restaurant’s homemade vermouth for a traditional Italian tipple. A lengthy list of Italian wines complements the rustic, natural flavours.

Translating as ‘apples and pears’, Mele e Pere in Soho brings a quirky yet refined eatery to one of London’s liveliest areas. Piccadilly Circus Tube Station is a 4-minute walk away.

[...] I waited for the catch (terrible options, tiny portions, awful table) but it didn't come. The food was good, the portions left us full by the end and service was excellent. We added a few dishes from the a la carte (because we're greedy) and walked away with full stomachs, a modest bill and pleased that we had benefitted from a genuine offer.

Our booking was for 9. After enjoying some cocktails at the bar we made our way to our seats where the attentive service continued for the rest of the evening. We ate from the 3 courses+glass of prosecco for [$]. The food came quickly and we enjoyed each course. Beautiful presentation of rich and fresh food. I would definitely recommend.

Tasty food, seamless service and delicious food at an unbelievable price for the special dining deal. Loved the quirky stools and the lamps downstairs. Altogether a very enjoyable evening.

Dined on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was packed. Really lively Soho restaurant buzz and cool rustic/retro decor. Definitely on the right lines- the fennel seed salami starter and tiramisu dessert were excellent, but the main course of Italian sausage was grossly over seasoned and the portion of meat was far too large (the accompaniment of cabbage and white beans could definitely have been bulked out a bit!). A good London restaurant and I would definitely return, but would hope that simple things like this would be ironed out!

We dined at 19:30. The staff were friendly/helpful. The menu choises were very limited and 2 of the 4 struggled to find something to have.

The set menus provided plenty of choice and were great value for money.

The food was amazing and they took such good care of us as a group of 14. The only thing is that there was a little bit too much time between courses and it took us 3 hours to complete our meal

Six of us have just had a fantastic lunch at Mele & Pere today. The food looked amazing and tasted wonderful. The decor was brilliant, old farmyard furniture / tinned pots/ amazing retro chairs/ steel angle poise lights/ old black and white pictures on the walls/ low level ceiling /cool staircase and amazing collection of paperweights in the window. Brilliant !
