Had a lovely meal with a friend, the staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere of the restraunt is very relaxing. Highly recommended.

So walked in expecting big things. From looking at the menu online McKenzie's looked like one of the priciest places in Lichfield and being on the site of where Chandlers was I think we were expecting a really great dinner with friends. I must say we were pretty disappointed. When we walked in I couldn't believe how bright it was, which was rather odd for a restaurant...Also, a swing band playing which we sat next to and they offered to move us (why even sit us there in the first place) but they were so loud and not great!

So we sat down for dinner and ordered, which was a little odd when we had to explain three times one of our party wanted to swap the mushrooms on the side for salad leaves. Then the food arrived, which was, to put it bluntly, rubbish...my "King Prawn Garlic Skewers" were small rubbery prawns on skewers with chopped tomatoes and red onion (basically bruschetta) nothing garlicky about any of it. Everyone else on the table was pretty disappointed with food saying it was bland...went downhill from there. Had to send steaks back as completely overcooked, the salad was wilted and not nice. We were drinking Malbec and ordered a second bottle, wine arrived and one of our party tasted it, it was then poured into our glasses when we realised it was Rioja... it was rectified and we were given another bottle of the Malbec we ordered. Then dessert came more bland food and tasted like it had been sitting around for ages, that kind of stale taste food has when it been left in open air. We also ordered some whiskies and specified one cube of ice to cool the whisky down. When it arrived glasses were full of ice which was 23 melted so all the whiskey was watered down (obviously been sitting on the bar for ages) so we had to ask for another, which we didn't get, they just gave us a shot in a cold glass... not the double whiskey with a single ice cube we wanted...

Overall I think it was a pretty awful experience in what once was a great restaurant. Massive shame.

Service and food was great. Some of the furnishings looked a little tired.

The service was great, our waitress was quick and efficient and got our order taken promptly. The atmosphere was upbeat with the added benefit of live music in the restaurant. The food was fine but I did feel the menu was a little limited and a little over priced for what you get.

It was my first visit to this restaurant and I was impressed. Nice decor, not too noisy and the service was good. We ate fairly early before going to a concert and the two courses arrived promptly without being rushed.
My son had the mushroom risotto and was surprised to have it served with a rocket garnish. He gave me the rocket then enjoyed the rest. My salmon salad nicoise was great and the chocolate brownie for desert was excellent.

This was a fabulous experience from start to finish. Booking was extremely easy and straight forward. We were welcomed with a friendly smile from all staff. dietary needs were not a problem and happily and diligently accommodated. The waiter was attentive, congenial and helpful. The restaurant itself has a wonderful atmosphere with plenty of space to dine, as well as a comfortable lounging area where it is extremely pleasant to take after-dinner coffee. The food was utterly delicious; being clearly 'home-cooked from scratch'. Fresh ingredients with a lovely, crisp glass of Chenin Blanc made this a wonderful experience. Can't recommend Mckenzie's in Lichfield highly enough. A huge thank you to all the staff.

I had booked the McKenzie as a special walk down memory lane for my husband as we met there 35 years ago (the Corn Exchange). We were truly not disappointed. The reception staff were very welcoming. The restaurant was lovely, just a few changes, nothing detrimental, lovely ambiance, delightful background music. Mr McKenzie himself took our order as he did with others, he was there entertaining people with his lovely humour. He made our day. The food was wonderful, in fact I wish my husband had not wanted my food as well as his!!!! The starters were to die for and the mains wonderful, if my husband had left my alone! Everything was exceptional down to the lovely coleslaw, I should have asked for a second helping, hubby ate half. We had a wonderful experience and would not hesitate to recommend it to other guest who like very good food, lovely attentive, staff. Just a lovely place to have a very enjoyable meal.

I booked a table here for myself and my girlfriend. We both ordered the fillet steak medium rare. This came cooked to perfection. The service was attentive and of high quality without being intrusive. All in all a very pleasurable experience. Thankyou
