We had a lovely meal. Seated in a private room as there was a wedding in process. Friendly staff. Plenty to choose from menu. Sticky toffee pudding particularly tasty. Really enjoyed it.

Booked "Early bird" offer but staff rang me to say offer not available. Bill substantially more because of this. Food average, fish batter crisp on outside but very soggy layer underneath very unpleasant! Salads overpriced and boring. Desserts acceptable. Staff very nice and hard working.

Not good - we turned up to be told that the booking system hadn't worked and there was no record of my booking. We were then told they were very busy and they had to check whether they could seat us with the kitchen. Very cold service when we got seated - disinterested staff. Food was good but thirty minute wait between starter and main. We then asked to take drinks outside into the garden - service was dreadful all day, staff surly. We got presented with our bill without asking for it. We ordered cocktails - I received mine in a John Smiths pint glass and one of the other glasses was chipped. Such a shame as great premises but ruined by unhelpful and bored staff.

The food was good, plenty of it. The service was OK, tables and chairs being moved whilst we were eating a little offputting.
Think generally the place is looking a bit 'tired' and needs a facelift to freshen it up and keep up with competitors.

We had the early bird menu and was impressed by the quality for the price, will certainly book again :)

We really like the hotel and the refurbishing that had been done in sympathy with a great period building. It a great place to entertain good friends.
The ALC menu was most interesting and inviting. The food together with the service was first class. There were 6 of us dining to celebrate a 70th birthday.
