I booked a table for two for the TLC High Tea as a birthday treat for my boyfriend. I can honestly say, the experience from start to finish was fantastic. The tea is served in the Mauve Lounge of the Howard and it's a stylish and contemporary room while still keeping a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The service was amazing, super friendly and just made us feel special and welcome. The TLC High Tea was a dream! From the scones (which are the best we have ever tasted!) to the sandwiches, it was just delicious! There was a great selection, beautiful teas and presented perfectly. With the TLC tea you also get a selection of London themed biscuits and chocolates that look amazing! We didn't eat the biscuits and a couple of the cakes as we were so full but we got to take them all away with us in little gift boxes! I cannot wait to return to the Swissotel and cannot praise it enough. Thank you for an amazing afternoon!

What a total disappointment. We visited here as a 70th Birthday celebration, looking forward to being in a posh hotel and being spoilt with what I had expected should be a memory of a life-time "afternoon team in a London Hotel". The experience was totally opposite! It would seem the food had been prepared in the morning and left uncovered to dry during the day until it was served to us at 5pm. Hard dried sandwiches, with minimal fillings, cheap thin ham, barely any cucumber, tasteless and chickenless coronation chicken (more like a sandwich paste). Hard dry scones. Completely opposite to my expectations of a delicious afternoon tea. I expected thick delicious fillings, soft fresh bread, delicious fresh scones, instead it seemed like someone else's leftovers. The bread from a side from one of the sandwich was even missing, no apology or replacement was even offered. As I do not drink tea I requested coffee which was undrinkable, more like an espresso, I had to ask for hot milk to mix in to make it drinkable. We asked for further pots of tea, which we waited so long for we were dying of thirst, and when the tea did come it was not the breakfast tea we had asked for originally, so we could not drink it.The service was slow, and we found it difficult to attract the attention of the staff, so ended up having to get up and approach them whenever we wanted anything. Just as the food was placed on our table, the spoon from the jam, fell out of the pot, flicking milk onto my handbag, and the spoon of jam actually fell into my handbag, not even a sorry or attempt at giving an apology.Staff SHOULD BE attentive and food SHOULD BE delicious for the amount of money!A totally waste of [$], appalling experience - AVOID !

We felt that you offered great value for money. Our only comment is perhaps there could be more sandwiches and lass cake.

There is a fantastic view over Manchester at Harvey Nichols Manchester. The service is superb - they are very attentive to your every wish! The food is very good; afternoon tea is especially impressive with a huge range of sandwiches, cakes and hot scones.

Afternnon Tea - could have a better savoury/ sweet balance. Lots of sweet items, very heavy scones, cupcakes, cakes, biscuits. Service very good.

Really nice tea experience. The food was good and the service was excellent.

I had the early bird afternoon tea so the place wasn't exactly crowded. the food was good, sandwiches were fine, the macaroons were DELICIOUS, but the cakes were all dry and the scones not even warm. the tea, however, was divine. they are famous for their TLSee tea which comes with chocolates shaped as various london landmarks. i did not get that but if you go you should, as the regular tea left more to be desired.
