A finalist in Masterchef: The Professionals in 2016, Matt Healy at The Foundry is a funky modern venue for unique takes on British classic. The red brick warehouse-style space is loaded with character, and features seating at the front to enjoy al fresco meals and drinks.
Matt Healy has crafted a truly inventive, exciting menu that gives new life to established British dishes. Nibble on snacks and charcuterie to start, like chorizo in cider, or order some of the small plate sharers like hand-cut beef tartare with yolk and a cheese and onion toastie. Tastes of the local area are served up with the Yorkshire venison, with other seasonal dishes added to the menu constantly.
An extensive wine list is on hand at Matt Healy at The Foundry in Leeds to complement any meal, along with freshly mixed cocktails like the gin and tonic made with Portobello Road Gin and fresh botanicals. Desserts are beautifully presented too, and include favourites like crème brûlée doughnut, and lemon posset with sherbet and meringue.
A polished yet ruggedly individual venture from the celebrated chef, Matt Healy at The Foundry is a 10-minute walk from Leeds Rail Station.

We had a fantastic meal. The restaurant is in a beautiful building the staff were superb, informative and attentive. The food was excellent superbly cooked and attractively presented on lovely crockery. All dishes were very tasty but we particularly enjoyed the Duck, the lamb, which was so beautifully cooked and the lobster.

We had high expectations and they were met. Our server Eileen was a gem. The lobster was the best I think I have ever had. Liked the casual ambience. A very stylish setting. The focus on fresh local ingredients is obvious. Reasonably priced given the quality of the food.

The overall experience was delightlfully relaxing. The food quality was excellent with a reasonable choice and something that was just a little different. The presentation was simple but entirely appropriate. The flavours were delightful. The waitress was very friendly, informative and attentive without being intrusive. The prices were reasonable too.

After reading reviews and write ups about this restaurant I was so looking forward to visiting it and meeting up with my family. I was sadly disappointed. The waiting staff were polite and accommodating I had seen on social media about the lunchtime special deal but had to ask as it was not told to us immediately by the staff. Three of us opted for the charcuterie board and unlike the internet where there was a selection of cheeses they came with 1 cheese, the boards arrived first luckily I was sharing a board with my daughter as it was some time before her 2 small plates arrived. My other daughter ordered some chorizo to compliment her board and again had to wait some time for it to arrive. Last to arrive after a long wait was my sisters Lamb, it was nicely cooked but overall none of us were really impressed.

Genuinely warm, friendly service that was helpful without being obtrusive. We’ve visited a number of ‘starred’ restaurants all over the world & this more than held its own. probably the best beef fillet I’ve ever eaten & great value for the quality.

WE had shared small plates to start with and wow, all were excellent. Taste, texture amazing. Mains, Beef and Lamb. Best beef I have eaten anywhere.
Staff are amazing too making the whole experience a thing of beauty.
All I can say is eat there, and find out yourself. You won't regret it. Well on the way to a star I think!

A bit quiet, but lovely food and friendly staff.

We went for Sunday lunch. The menu was very limited, and even more so as a non-meat eating milk intolerant. Matt devised a spiced cauliflower for my main, which was delicious and went well with the roast potatoes. He adapted the tomato stack starter, which was refreshing but a bit tasteless without the gazpacho. Trouble is no-one adapted the bill to reflect the situation and I felt a bit cheated to pay the same as my meat-eating dining partner. Spiced cauliflower simply wasn’t worth £20, and the heritage tomatoes without the burrata cheese weren’t worth £7. The elderflower martini and godfather cocktails were so delicious I didn’t think to mention it at the time of paying. I would recommend the Sunday lunch to friends with a warning that it’s expensive and not good value if you’re not eating meat.
