Great meal, great atmosphere. It was excellent to also talk to Matt, who is a lovely guy.
Very interesting building, which reflect the industrial heritage of the Foundry area.
Look out for the plaques on the outside walls, which provides a fascinating history.

A finalist in Masterchef: The Professionals in 2016, Matt Healy at The Foundry is a funky modern venue for unique takes on British classic. The red brick warehouse-style space is loaded with character, and features seating at the front to enjoy al fresco meals and drinks.

Matt Healy has crafted a truly inventive, exciting menu that gives new life to established British dishes. Nibble on snacks and charcuterie to start, like chorizo in cider, or order some of the small plate sharers like hand-cut beef tartare with yolk and a cheese and onion toastie. Tastes of the local area are served up with the Yorkshire venison, with other seasonal dishes added to the menu constantly.

An extensive wine list is on hand at Matt Healy at The Foundry in Leeds to complement any meal, along with freshly mixed cocktails like the gin and tonic made with Portobello Road Gin and fresh botanicals. Desserts are beautifully presented too, and include favourites like crème brûlée doughnut, and lemon posset with sherbet and meringue.

A polished yet ruggedly individual venture from the celebrated chef, Matt Healy at The Foundry is a 10-minute walk from Leeds Rail Station.

The staff were exceptionally attentive, friendly and helpful. The Sunday roast was arguably one of the best we’ve had in a long time and didn’t expect to have an entire steak of sirloin with it!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the experience was top notch. Great staff, great atmosphere, great food. We loved that it felt quite informal and the idea of it being more of a sharing menu worked well for us. Will definitely be dining here again.

From the moment we arrived to see the open kitchen and Matt coordinating the team (awsome), we received a super lovely greeting and despite being early, shown to the table! Our table host was exceptional (sorry we can’t recall his name, Irish chap only been with you 2 weeks) he explained all the menu and some of his favourites! The menu was unusual in the sense we didn’t quite get the way it was laid out ie starters/snacks and main? Maybe that’s just us? But it didn’t really matter - we opted for the cheese and charcuterie board, scotch eggs & Mac and cheese with the heat in! Yum yum yum!!!! We probably ordered too much.... I think the highlight was the egg and I think the simplicity of the Mac was good but it was somehow ‘lacking’ - not the expert so just a personal view? For mains we had Lamb and steak! Cooked to perfection and probably the highlight of the meal!!!! In hindsight we should have ordered some kind of carbohydrate to compliment as we went for the broccoli and almonds.... stuffed to the gunnels we could not manage pud so finished the Merlot and raved to all our friends about the experience..... just wonder if Matt needs to come and say hello to his diners? After all, the whole experience is about the Masterchef journey and his amazing achievements? This would have probably made our evening? We are coming back - no exception! Ps Every diner tried to get in the back door as we did as the main door is tucked away in the square & most people enter from the road side (Top tip)! Thanks for an incredible foodie experience. I wish you and the business every success - Rebecca & Paul Newby x

    Excellent all round.
Venue, waiting staff and most importantly the food.
Other than the crackling we can not fault it!
    The duck was exceptional!!!

The restaurant was a lot smaller than I expected which meant there was a great atmosphere and I can imagine even on a quiet night it would still feel full. The service was brilliant, the staff answered any questions we had on the menu and explained how the menu worked. The food was absolutely brilliant, the small plates were perfect, especially the truffle mac and cheese and left me really excited for the mains. The only quarm would be maybe having some side dishes to suggest with the mains although, we requested the small plates come out as starters, perhaps if they had all come out together this wouldn’t have been an issue.

Great food with excellent flavours. Great location, great service.

If I could change one thing or offer one piece of feedback - don’t run out of Prosecco! Was really disappointed that I had to pay another £20 for bubbles because you had run out of Prosecco

    Overall though very good
