An excellent first visit. Beetroot was favourite starter.leek a little disappointing.main courses were great if a tad small and the hake with horseradish sauce was really good (maybe short of a potato dish)asked for a malt whiskey with coffee but it never arrived,

I booked online for Saturday and had the option of 9:15am or 9:30am. We choose 9:15am. I then had a call from the restaurant saying that they have my booking but have earlier times so come earlier if you want. The food we had was outstanding. My wife said the Scallop was the best she had ever had, the same with her Lamb and my beef was fantastic. We were looking forward to the desert giving how good the food had been so far. I ordered a White Chocolate Fondant with Cherry Sorbet. The waited served me a Chocolate fondant and as he served it he said "It normally melts when you cut it but it has happened as its come from the kitchen so I won't charge you for it" and he left. I was i bit confused. I cut into the fondant and it was dry. There was no sorbet just a little bit of Cherry Sauce. My wife and I couldn't understand how or why it was even served! I called the waiter over and said I'm not bothered about you not charging me but can I have the sticky toffee pudding instead. I was served that within a few minutes and it was warm at best. Prior to the fondant being delivered we had some wine left in the bottle we had ordered. We were taking it home as we my wife was on her second glass and I had 1 as i was driving. The waiter came over picked up the bottle and stated filling our glassed up. He said "I'm going to be cheeky and top you up!" He didn't give us a chance to say no. At this point we realised we we the only ones left in the restaurant and it was 10:05pm. Everyone was running around trying to tidy up and constantly asking us if we had finished. We were being rushed out and no understood why he was trying to get us to drink up! I don't normally do reviews but the experience in the end was truly awful. Spending over £120 and being hurried out. It is really disappointed because prior to the deserts the food really was fantastic.

Although I appreciate that the Foundry is all about flavour, and very good that aspect of the meal indeed was, we were disappointed overall with the portion size. I chose the scallop starter which comprised of 1 scallop in a bowl with a small amount of bisque. At almost £9.00 I feel this was somewhat taking the Mickey! He restaurant was very quiet on a Friday evening, I hope he’s not pricing himself out of the target market
