An average restaurant with nothing exceptional. Four of us went for the mother's day lunch which we thought was just mediocre and nothing special. The soup was over-salted and the main courses were rather bland in flavour. However, both bottles of wine were good quality but we had to ask the waiter a couple of times to bring glasses for the red wine and we had to ask for the apple sauce to accompany the meal. The ambiance and table appointments were very pleasant but the big minus for us is that the following day, we rang regarding a possible overcharge on our bill and twice since and they did not have the courtesy to return our calls!

    Not a successful evening
Ministroni soup, no body, no taste as no cheese or bread offered.
Steak, overcooked and tough, left half, best part of meal was the nachos before main course.
Offered a free sweet but declined.
    Staff friendly
Large souless room, only 4 other dinners

Dreadful! it was a Wednesday evening and very quiet, only 4 other tables filled during the whole of our meal. when i first sat down my knife was dirty and had to be replaced. Although this was done promptly and the server was very gracious about it. Next both mine and my friends meals were wrong. I ordered the salad with jumbo shrimp and got salmon! my friend ordered the cajun chicken without the sauce and got it with the sauce. We waited over 30 minutes for our meal and then another ten minutes for the replacement meals, and the bill was £2.00 more than it should have been.
The staff were polite and friendly but very slow. The young waitress who got our order wrong was in the restaurant on her own for the first 30 minutes but another then joined her.
This is the second time I've been here and the last time was pretty bad as well. will definitely not be returning and definitely not recommending to friends, quite the opposite in fact. Average food, way over priced and terrible service.
And I never usually post critiques but I felt I had to.

Two of us had a very nice meal, beautifully designed on the plate. The staff were wonderful and so polite and attentive. However, we were the only people in the restaurant at 1.30 p.m. But this did not disturb us.

Food was very good but expensive. Service was patchy. Air con/heating (?) grating around the edges of restaurant was dirty with bits of litter clearly visible.

The whole dining experience was not a pleasant one, the service in the restaurant was one of the worst I've ever had. Food was just about edible, my pasta dish had no flavour, limp vegetables and had been under a heat lamp for a while. The belly pork was so fatty and was inedible with string still embedded in the skin, on a bed of unidentifiable vegetables. The service was non existent, starters came with the comment ' don't know what this food is' and a look of confusion by the waitress, the mains were brought in a similar vain, at no time were we ask if we needed anything (drinks etc.) or checked on throughout the whole meal, even when the food was brought to the table the staff virtually disappeared instantly without a word. A glass of bubbly was supposed to be included and was never brought to the table and trying to catch a waiters was impossible - getting tables set for the next customer (in a half empty restaurant) seems more important (as well as dropping dishes multiple times). Only when the main dishes were collected did I get chance to remind them about the wine, but by this time we were so fed up waiting that we didn't want it - the soft drinks that we ordered at the start of the meal were then given gratis because of this, however if we had better service we could had had the opportunity to ask for this earlier in the meal. Then we waited for staff to ask if we wanted any dessert or coffee - after 10 minutes of waiting we left very unhappy!

I had heard mixed reports about Marco's restaurant in Hoylake, but undeterred, I used a Groupon offer to try it out. We were greeted by very helpful and cheerful staff, shown to our table and were served quickly. Our meal was from a menu specific to the Groupon offer but had enough choice to cater for our tastes. The meal arrived quickly, was well presented and tasty. No quibbles at all about our experience. All in all a very pleasant evening out.

We loved all the food. The menu choices were fantastic. My husband would have chosen everything. I absolutely loved the belly pork and the New York cheesecake.
