I had the "Shepards Pie" and I must say it was the best Pie I have ever tasted, it was quite salty and I like my food salty so that was nice and the meat wad excellent. 10/10.....full marks!

So sorry but I was not impressed in the slightest. For such a prestigious hotel the afternoon tea was really disappointing. We had to wait over 10 minutes to be attended to and shown to our table It was booked for my 60th and so I hoped for a really special experience but it wasn't to be. When the waitress brought out the food a sandwich fell on the floor and wasn't acknowledged or replaced. We had a bottle of prosecco with the meal (£30+) but neither tea nor coffee was offered. We tried in vain to attract attention from a waitress but when one came she only said "have you finished" and walked off, leaving us open mouthed! We gave up on tea or coffee.

The food was nice but I am surprised a Michelin star chef puts his name to this as it wasn't great. Someone really ought to taste the desserts please, the cheesecake in particular was so bland and tasteless.

With the new Ocean Liner restaurant now open in the Quay I am sure more people will be turning their attention to that, so perhaps you could take this e-mail on board.

This is the first time I have ever left a review or complained about a meal, so
please do not send me a generic apologies e-mail by response as I would find that very insulting.

This was very disappointing. Although the quality of the meat was OK it was really poorly cooked. We had three steaks and all were overcooked. If you are a steak restaurant then surely you know hoe to cook a steak! Overcooking maybe a theme here as the Calamari starter was like rubber!

We had booked for afternoon tea. Before we had removed our coats and sat down we were asked if we would like tea or coffee and told which teas were available. I had expected to find a menu of the tea including the varieties of tea available on the table so we could decide more leisurely. A few minutes later we were told that our choice was unavailable. There was no cup and saucer laid for my daughter and she had to ask. The food was fine, lovely sandwiches, scones and cake. However the tea ran out and we were not offered any more until I asked. When we had finished we waited for a member of staff so we may ask for the bill. However eventually we left our table to look for someone to ask if we could pay. A member of staff (who obviously had a cold) appeared and we paid. However I did knock off the service charge which had been added as I didn't feel it was justified.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and inviting and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I ordered the fillet steak which was beautifully cooked. My partner ordered the T-bone which was OK on one side but was very grisly on the other. He spoke to our waitress and she immediately took it away and it was replaced with a fillet (and fresh chips). In addition the restaurant manager apologised and checked that the replacement was OK. A lovely meal with a small hiccup - we would both recommend the restaurant.
