Rump of lamb was very tough and difficult to eat. An apology from the waitress but no discount offered.

Very pleasant meal, although a little underwhelming - perhaps our expectations were too high. My wife, for her recent 60th b'day had a number of gifts for fine dining. Our visit to you was one of those, we experienced in the last few weeks everything from 2 Michelin stars to the local pub! So enough to make a fair comparison - we went to MPW with 2 friends and the meal was very nice - but not wow! Which is fine, but sadly the service really lets down this restaurant, it was a quiet evening and was well staffed with 5 visible staff, one was clearly very new and could have done with some support. They were all friendly and polite, but the gap between the first 2 meals being served to the second two was just too long - they could [and should] have bought all 4 together. Two dishes were cleared from the table while two of us were still eating - unacceptable really and taken before I could say anything. Whilst clearing the first two dishes the grubby teacloth was left on our table and remained there even though 3 different waitresses attended our table to clear the rest, bring more water and desert menus. We did have a nice meal, and a pleasant evening but I think it worth giving this honest feedback to help you provide a better service. For us based on this experience we would probably not return, I did expect more having never been to Marco Pierre White before and thought it would be high on my list of experiences, but it was pretty mediocre.

Working in a restuarant myself i can be quite critical. Service was ok, there was no interaction from the waitress, no 'how are you', 'have you had a nice day', which to me is table etiquette. Food was nice. I did find the kids starter slightly odd, chicken crunch came with chips and salad? I added the garlic prawns to my steak, 5 small prawns swimming in garlic butter. We also had the creamed cabbage and pancetta, that looked like shredded cabbage had been put in a tub of cream! The plates were just put on the table, and staff just walked straight away. No, 'would you like any extra sauces?' or 'another drink?' All in all we had an enjoyable meal and would return.

To be honest I found the meal a bit lucklustre and underwhelming. I ordered the beetroot salad starter, chicken main and given I hadn’t eaten all day was looking forward to it. The salad was just average and the chicken was bland. The wines were good however. We also had to wait a long time for our main. As an aside the atmosphere was flat also. No music on. We were all squashed together with other diners so could hear and be heard throughout the meal despite the restaurant being very spacious and largely empty. Disappointing experience overall.

I had the calamari which had a lovely light crispy batter and my husband had the scotch egg, which he said was amazing! We both had the rib eye steak with different toppings, really well cooked and melted in the mouth. The panacotta and strawberries was just the right light dessert.

When I booked over the phone I specifically asked if it was possible to order 3 chateaubriand. I was assured that I did not need to pre order this dish as it would be available on the night. On arrival we were told that chateaubriand was unavailable. We were very disappointed. Please provide mixed veg as this is also something which is unavailable at this restaurant.

Enjoyed our afternoon tea on Friday 20th September while our husbands visited the Southampton Boat Show. Nice choice of sandwiches, sadly the bread went hard very quickly, good scones and clotted cream but the cakes were a bit disappointing.
