was very busy sat in a not so nice part of the dinning area
hard to get service
we waited over 20 minutes for desert menu , and nothing so we left with no desert or drinks refill
spolit our meal somewhat
they really lack service in this place as times , but we love the food and drinks

Lovely setting. Food was nice but I wouldn't say it was worth the regular price if we hadn't got the lunch deal at a special price. Service was pretty slow so overall an OK lunch but nothing special.

Had the American high tea here and it was fab. I had never heard of an "American" high tea before and I can honestly say it was better than any high tea I've ever had. The food was much more interesting than the traditional sandwiches and it was delicious. The cakes were especially delicious, especially the tiramisu. The restaurant itself was something else. Fantastic views over Plymouth Hoe from the penthouse of the hotel where the restaurant is based. I have been to Plymouth many times but this was the best view of it I'd ever seen. I'd go again for the view alone or the food alone as both were fantastic. The Irish waitress was lovely.

Restaurant is very nice decor and comfortable, the French onion soup was amazing, I had the sirloin which was thought and chewy, the other on my table had the fillet steak which they all enjoyed, a couple of members of staff seemed very disinterested in the job, also noticed that nobody writes anything down, which meant things were forgotten on several tables, also the cocktail menus seems to have been reduced dramatically since I last went,

A surprising layout with the area that seems to have the best views over the Hoe and the ocean predominantly table free. Despite requesting a window table we were given a table at the back of the restaurant away from all windows. Looking from the table gave a somewhat less than glamorous view of a rather industrial part of the city. The waiters were very friendly but incredibly slow, I did ask whether they were busier than normal but was assured this was standard. We ordered rib-eye and sirloin steaks, when they eventually arrived (following a starter which was really good) the waitress had to take them back into the kitchen as she was unsure which steak was which. They came back out and we ate them. The rib-eye (I'm told by my other half) was very nice however the sirloin was like trying to eat a chewy piece of old leather. I sawed off a bit for my girlfriend who actually had to spit it back out into a napkin as she was unable to chew it to a digestible pulp. I passed comment to our waiter (at least I think he was our waiter, he didn't actually bring our starters or mains, that was two other people) that the steak was poor and he assured me he would pass comment to the chef. When we, eventually, got the bill there was no reduction or offer of recompense for such a poor meal and dining experience and to be honest I found it ridiculously expensive given everything else. We left and are highly unlikely to return.

Honestly speaking, I was a little disappointed. My husband took me out mid-week to celebrate my birthday. Given the ‘headline’ name over the door, we expected something a bit more special in terms of flavour and quality/preparation. Our table was next to the window so we had a nice view over the city at night and the overall ambiance in the restaurant was pleasant. I had the calamari and shrimp as a starter; it was fine but nothing spectacular. My husband had the ‘duck in a pot’; it was a generous portion, had a great texture and was generally tasty, though a little too salty for his palette. For the main course I had the lamb and my husband had the T-bone steak. The lamb was ‘fine’ but again nothing spectacular; I was expecting it to be more flavoursome. My husband’s steak was over cooked (well done as opposed to the medium that was ordered) but, worst of all, it was very salty. He spoke to the waiter and the maitre d. They were receptive but surprised to hear that he found it salty and said it could be the marinade. In fairness, they did offer to prepare another. The vegetable sides were a generous portion. The wine we selected was very good. However, at the end of the night, the overall impression was one of disappointment; we expected something a little more special in terms of flavour and quality from a Marco Pierre White dining experience, something that was a little more reflective of the price and the surroundings.
