Very average for the price. Booking and service was excellent however the potted duck starter wasn’t seasoned at all, very bland and tasteless and mine had bones in it which I wouldn’t expect from a restaurant of any quality serving a dish like that. Steak was good but not market leading which again, I’d expect better for the price. Wine was decent. Fairly ugly, overly lit room which is just an extension to the hotel bar and foyer decorated with large, ancient picture of Marco Pierre White looming over us as we ate.

We had been given a gift voucher and were very much looking forward to this dine out. Started with drinks at the bar: lovely. Began our meal with olives, sourdough and salted butter: delicious. For our mains we had one swordfish, and one aubergine both with chips. On the menu each were described as being served with basil but both had an overwhelming flavour of (what we think was) oregano. Whatever it was it was an identical accompaniment to both dishes and totally dominated any other flavour the dishes purported to have. Very disappointing. We continued with sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake, again, both very nice. The service was spot on too, and also the booking experience. What a shame the mains let the whole thing down. However we did enjoy a good evening out overall.

Meal was nice. However 1 very big disappointment was that it stated on the menu that the meal included triple cooked chips. I’ve had triple cooked chips before in other restaurants and the chips served here were not triple cooked chips. They were frozen chips similar to what you would get in wetherspoons.

Great meal, have dined here many times now and have never been disappointed. Favourite dishes were Belly Pork and Lemon Posset of which both were devine. My only complaint would be that sometimes I do find the restaurant a little chilly and I have to think how to dress particularly when visiting in the Winter months. Overall the staff, cleanliness and food are exceptional
