We had the festive meal package which was lovely. However to be fussy the soup was served with no bread and when asked for bread we got a charge of £3-95. At least give one piece of bread!! Cherry trifle was gorgeous. We would always choose a MPW

Booked the Festive Afternoon Tea, as there was a special offer of £15 per person but felt it was a complete waste of money. It started with a half a glass of flat prosecco, which was replaced when I requested. The food was a disappointment, dry, poorly filled sandwiches, scones were fresh but the jam had obviously been sitting around for a considerable length of time and had a tight skin on the top, the cakes were mediocre. This was all served in the bar area, which was well staffed but service was poor, with no one asking if we were happy with the food.
    We certainly would not return

Booked the festive afternoon tea through bookable. Was told by waiter that tea was not included in the afternoon tea as we had it at a discount price.... not fair!!!!! Waitress took 15 minx to provide a cup of tea, not a good service. Food was nice.

Absolutely dreadful. Festive afternoon tea served in bar area directly open to people coming and going in the hotel. People from a conference queuing directly next to our table for a coffee machine.

With the exception of Robbie, staff inattentive. Incorrect order put through. Also ordered a bottle of Champagne Rose. Was brought standard champagne which was opened and served without telling us it wasn’t what we’d asked for. When we pointed out that we had requested the Rose, the waitress shrugged and bluntly said ‘we don’t have any’. When I pointed out that she should have told me they didn’t have any and asked if I would like to choose something else she shrugged again and said ‘well this is all we have’. No one ever checked if we were ok, if the food was good or even cleared our table. My daughter cleared it herself in the end, to an adjacent table.

Vegetarian option to replace turkey and cranberry sandwich and pigs in blankets was just a plain cheese sandwich. Cakes were ok but could break your teeth on the mini mince pie. Absolutely solid.

If this is what Marco Pierre White has stooped to lending his name to these days, he clearly isn’t up to much.

Booked an afternoon tea for myself & mum as we were coming through to Edinburgh for the Christmas markets. The afternoon tea itself wasn’t too bad, when we finally got it although I have had much better! When we arrived we were told to go to bar to be shown to a table this itself took longer than it should have. After we were seated we were then waiting over half an hour before any member of staff came near us despite several other people being served who had come in after us! My mum had to go up to the bar to get their attention & told them how long we’d waited, the member of staff came over & not only did his apology seem so insincere, he had the cheek to ask if we’d had the chance to look at the menu well of course it doesn’t take half an hour!! We weren’t the only people to complain either, a family behind us had waited so long for their tea that they had finished their cakes before it had arrived, well once they had reminded the staff they’d ordered it & a lady in another family wasn’t happy either!

The hotel itself looks lovely & is in a great location but the service does really need to improve & it ruined the start of a nice day for us! Won’t be back!

We had the festive three course menu which offered a great choice and the service was excellent. Sometimes a festive menu or offer can disappoint but not in this instance. Highly recommended.

Very classy restaurant, came for my boyfriends 22nd birthday. Complimentary prosecco was a lovely touch and with his dessert the chef had done a lovely happy 22nd birthday in chocolate with the dessert
