The restaurant is in a beautiful building and has been designed very sympathetically to retain a lot of original features. The menu was quite limited and the set menu was dearer than one shown on the website, although another online did show the correct price. The food was tasty - we had Mr Lamb’s shepherds pie (a bit on the small side for my husband’s appetite) and Caesar salad with king prawns followed by a dark chocolate brownie to share. Along with 4 drinks, 2 of which were soft ones, this came to over £76 which seemed a bit pricey fir what we had. We had a lovely time and the staff were very friendly and helpful - well worth a visit to enjoy the beautiful surroundings but be prepared to pay a bit more than you might elsewhere.

The restaurant itself was lovely, properly spaced out service was good. The food however very disappointing, below average especially for the price.

We had the set 2 course lunch which was good but not very special. The room was cold, but also lacked atmosphere although this was perhaps more due to the Covid restrictions and in the evening would be better.

standard of cooking, poor. The steak was tough and had to be rejected. Not up to a standard of a professional chef. Also it was cold in the restaurant.

Excellent value with the 3 courses for £20 menu
