Excellent food and value for money . Good portions and very interesting choices . Only criticism - service attentive but very slow .

The restaurant fit out looks great - and it has a really nice atmosphere. The menu selection was good, if a bit eggy (lots of fried and poached eggs on dishes) and the plates were presented beautfully. The only issue is that the service was not quite there yet. I was given the wrong main meal on two occasions (once even before we'd had our starters!) and they was a mistake with the bill. The mistake was rectified, but it was just a bit of a pain. Wouldn't rush back to dine here again.

Afternoon tea at Malmaison Birmingham was a wonderful treat after a hard morning shopping. The wraps and mini burgers were a nice alternative to sandwiches, and the cakes were all delicious and beautifully presented.
However the 10% service charge added to our bill came as an unwelcome surprise. I prefer the decision to leave a tip to be left to my personal discretion.

The overall experience was pleasant. Food was high quality and the interior was appealing and up market. The service I found was good up to a point. The waitress seemed to have given up in our table once we completed out mains. It took her 10 minutes before I had to ask for the deserts menu after she said she was gonna grab them. It took another 5 minutes to order. We requested the bill and it took another 10 minutes it's for it to get to us. The end of the night brought the experience down to an average.

Warm welcome. Limited choice on menu, but choices made were delicious especially our starters of 1) Fresh Burrata 2) Grilled masala spiced mackerel. We both had Gloucester old spot pork belly which was well cooked but the portion of peas was very small. Our choice of desserts were 1) Rhubarb trifle ( a little too set and very little rhubarb flavour) 2) Seasonal fromage slate ( a nice small selecion of cheese and biscuits). The glass of prosecco each was delicious. We did have quite a wait between ordering and then getting our starter. Staff were were very friendly and served us well.
