Booked lunch for Friday before Christmas. Both of us ordered from the xmas menu. Starter of poached pear and Roquefort was good sized, if a tad hidden in the salad leaves. The turkey and trimimgs was great, best of the 4 dinners out this season. Moist balantine on a nicely spiced bread sauce made it different enough to be enjoyable. Groups arrived whilst we were there, and the same plates were being brought out en mass. Sweet was a generous portion of xmas pud and nutmeg custard. Only complaint being the pud was just a bit to big for the custard. Service was excellent, prompt, no nonsense over the water, and polite enough to help make it an occasion. 12.5% SC not begrudged this time.

Very nice restaurant with attentive staff. We went for Sunday lunch at 1.30pm and it was almost empty but did fill up towards 3.30pm when we were leaving. The chef's carvery table starter was great and could have formed the whole meal if you're not careful. Our mains were all great - beef stroganoff, steak and fish cakes, as were the puddings. Good selection of reasonably priced wines. Meal was good value too.
