Restaurant description

Malmaison Aberdeen boasts a dramatic open restaurant featuring plush banquette seating and brushed chrome, all illuminated by dim hanging spotlights and warm open candlelight. An open kitchen gives the unique opportunity to see Malmaison's talented chefs at work at the theatrical Josper grill.

The brasserie-inspired menu is famous for perfectly cooked steaks and superb mainstay classics, plus regularly introduced on-trend dishes and a seasonally changing prix fixe menu. The artfully crafted Malmaison menu utilises a range of fresh fish and seafood, superb seasonal vegetables and a wide variety of steaks, or take your pick from the local house specials in the kitchen's own meat display. Popular desserts include the Mal hot chocolate and crème brûlée. Vegetarian options are also available, with a selection of both starters and mains available on the a la carte menu and on the seasonal prix fixe.

Diners can also head to the trendy bar at the Malmaison restaurant. An accessible, hand-picked wine list, beers and nationally renowned 'Malchemy' cocktails offer plenty of choice.

This exclusive hotel sits 7 minutes’ drive from Union Square Shopping Centre.

Warm welcome on arrival, and service was really great during our visit. Menu had lots of options for us both, and all dishes chosen were delicious. My smoked salmon starter had a generous helping and was paired well with capers and grated egg, while my mackerel main course was fresh and full of flavour. Creme brûlée on the dessert menu was irresistible especially as it included pistachio, and we both decided it was a perfect end to our meal. My friend was then presented with a special birthday dessert treat as we had mentioned our lunch was a birthday treat. A lovely surprise and truly delicious with the cinder toffee! We had a lovely lunch and wonderful dining experience.

Overall, and given it was such a special occasion (15th wedding anniversary) we were bitterly disappointed of the evening, from being advised there was no Fillet, Risotto and a Chicken dish, as well as a certain type of fries (only to see the table next to us be given them 15 minutes later) I just felt let down, this is a restaurant we have used a lot of the years for special occasions however I have to say I would not rush back. In addition I felt the wait for any drinks, and food was poor - we sat down going 7.30 and it was after 8.45pm before our mains came.

Great food but service could be improved. Waiters congregating at desk instead of touring all tables

My daughter and I booked a table in the restaurant as we were spending the night in Aberdeen for her 13th birthday. The service and food were amazing and my daughter said it was the best fillet steak she’s ever had! When I booked the table I asked for a nice table as it was her birthday, Someone gave her a drink and a beautiful dessert which was just lovely.
