Restaurant description

From the acclaimed M restaurants in Victoria and the City, M Bar & Grill Twickenham offers casual drinking and chic grill dining. Created by M executive chef and Great British Menu star, Michael Reid, expect a menu of modern British dishes and award-winning steaks.

The M Bar & Grill menu is led by lovingly sourced steaks including Highland wagyu and British beef. Succulent cuts can be paired with indulgent sides such as triple-cooked chips or truffled mac ‘n’ cheese, whilst other hearty mains include a rotisserie chicken with confit garlic, rare breed pork shoulder with buttermilk purée and cider jus, and the M twist on fish and chips, complete with potato emulsion and crispy oyster.

Sunday roasts at M offer indulgent twists on the classics with the likes of slow-cooked wagyu beef and rare breed pork shoulder on the menu, whilst brunch favourites are also given the M treatment, with hens’ eggs and sourdough soldiers, and sweet potato hash brown with duck egg amongst the options.

Overlooking the River Crane, find M Bar & Grill at Brewery Wharf opposite Twickenham Station.

Food is great. Kids menus is good. Wine list is impressive. Decor etc is immaculate, draught beer isn’t that great. Service is perfect. Cost is a little expensive to be a regular place to go in Twickenham. This probably is why it wasn’t that busy for a Sunday lunch time when the Sunday lunch is so good.

I booked at short notice for a large group. Waiters were not completely ready, but made us feel welcome and quickly adjusted seating to fit our party. food and wine were good. Service was excellent.

Despite reasonably high expectations, we were - as a group - underwhelmed. Baffled by the vagueness of the menu - crisps & dips turned out to be what we established to be a bowl of deep fried egg whites and some not very good houmous. The sides were small, and I really didn’t appreciate unannounced sriracha mayo all over the broccoli I’d ordered to go with my truffle mac and cheese. Which turned out to be the best bit of my meal, as my steak was clearly seconds out of the pan and unrested, was therefore quite tough and bled all over my plate. Staff weren’t awful, certainly there were plenty to hand, just badly trained and/or managed - as our responses to questions about how our meal was were met with zero reaction - ill equipped to deal proactively with criticisms. A friend sent back her pudding as it bore little resemblance to the menu, and it was simply snatched away and put straight in the bin - end of. A lot of work needed here - had we not known otherwise, we would have thought it was the very early days of a soft opening. Which was a shame.

My second visit with friends after telling them how good it was last time, I think the restaurant was short of staff on our visit as they seemed to be rushing around more than normal, the food was good however the steak I would say was under size but what we had was good but burger was very small to be honest. I dont normally complain but i feel this should be mentioned as the price of the food is not cheap.

First visit here, certainly won’t be the last. We all opted for Sunday roast, beef and lamb....absolutely superb! Perfectly cooked, great accompaniments, everything was delicious. Service was charming. Only minor criticism, particularly given it wasn’t busy, could of been a little more attentive...topping up wine etc would of been nice and expected at this price point (Gaucho esque).

From when we entered, I knew I was going to have a good night, the bar staff were charming and greeted us with an offer of a drink whilst our table was being made ready. The décor was stylish and modern. The service was impeccable, friendly and ultimately informative about the dishes and wines and the service was fantastic, The filet steak was the best steak I have EVER eaten, and would definitely purchase again. Went there to celebrate starting a new job and was definitely not disappointed. I would gladly recommend this little gem of a restaurant in Twickenham.
