Michelin-starred Lyle’s is the first restaurant from renowned chef James Lowe, founding member of the esteemed Young Turks Collective, alongside John Ogier, his former colleague at St John. Opened in Spring 2014, the restaurant occupies an enviably trendy spot in Shoreditch, the fittingly modern and minimalist décor offset by the rich, wholesome cuisine.

Big on UK produce, the Lyle’s menu is a creative blend of British and Scandinavian influences, with both lunch and dinner menus updated daily. Dishes may include the likes of Dover sole with seaweed and anchovy, Galloway flank steak with pickled walnuts, and pumpkin with smoked eel and kale. Homemade breads, butters and pickles also feature.

Desserts at Lyle’s restaurant are no less creative, and include fig and fig leaf ice cream alongside a classically British cheese board. A carefully selected wine menu, which evolves with the seasons, perfectly complements the exquisite menu.

On one of London’s most vibrant streets, Lyle’s Shoreditch is a 1-minute walk from Shoreditch High Street Train Station.

Great and interesting food. Well balanced menu. Wine list sadly lacks and lets down the overall experience.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in London. Exciting, innovative food that is great value. Minimalist decor, good atmosphere. Top tip is a cocktail at Lounge Bohemia round the corner beforehand (you have to book).

Food was excellent. Some kitchen smells became apparent later in the evening

Been here for lunch before and loved it so wanted to try the dinner experience. And wasn't disappointed. Fresh ingredients, amazing flavours, all complementing each other. Good wine
selection. One of my favourite places in London right now.

Great set menu, all dishes very complimentary.

The dining space is very bright, open, and tasteful. The wine was excellent. Unfortunately we ordered from the vegan menu which left a lot to be desired. For £44 you get 4 plates (including the dessert), all of which consisted of braised or steamed vegetables in a marinade or au jus. The entire meal tasted quite flat, and the general impression was that the chef did not give much if any thought to the vegan option on the day. All of the plates resembled side dishes to main menu, which left us feeling a bit dispirited for having given the restaurant a try. Even if the fresh ingredients are meant to be the focus, is there a reason none of the dishes included any grains? Also, I'm sorry, but fermented gooseberries are just foul.
