Restaurant description

Boasting 3 AA Rosettes, and awarded AA Restaurant of the Year 2017, Lumiere is an independent fine dining restaurant in the heart of Regency Cheltenham.

Drawing on his wealth of experience in Michelin-starred restaurants, Jon Howe’s stunning dishes are inspired by British seasonal produce. Highlights on the Lumiere menu include 50-day aged Dexter beef served with morels, asparagus and spring truffle, Cornish stone bass with mussels, samphire and lemongrass, and rich desserts such as Yorkshire forced rhubarb soufflé with miso, white chocolate and hibiscus.

The menus at Lumiere restaurant are complemented by an extensive wine list, and served in a sophisticated yet relaxed setting. With only 8 tables, the restaurant is elegant and intimate, offering unique dishes, signature tasting menus and matching wines with a distinct lack of pretension.

In the heart of The Cotswolds, Lumiere Cheltenham is a 20-minute walk from Cheltenham Spa Rail Station.

Fantastic food and service. From the snacks at the beginning were clever and delivered with precision to the lightest soufflé to end. For a set lunch menu - amazing value. Gingerbread mimosa also unique and lovely.

A faultless and enjoyable dining experience. I had indicated when booking that I had lactose intolerance and that was seamlessly accommodated for with delicious alternatives. The menu was exciting and innovative and the service perfect. I was treating a friend for a special birthday and we were both delighted by our lunch.

The restaurant has a intimate and stylish feel, the staff have a lovely balance of being informative and friendly and giving you space to enjoy your experience. The look is spectacular, we were blown away by the presentation and the taste experience.

This was only our second visit to Lumiere. Having just come back from our holiday in Dubai and eating at some wonderful restaurants there. Lumiere is still by far the best place to eat. From entering you are greeted with warmth and a smile. The decor, lighting, ambience is beautiful and tasteful. Onto the food, we had the taster 9 course menu on a Saturday. Every course was presented and explained beautiful. Each course was full of flavour and tasted superb. For a special occasion (it was our 1st wedding anniversary) this is the best place to go. Many thanks to the Lumiere team. We will be back.

Excellent address : modern yet simple setting. Amazing culinary experience with great service. The mix of flavours, colours and tastes is fantastic. Lots of imagination in the food but as well in the presentation. We will definitely come back soon!

Visited Lumiere for a special meal with my wife to celebrate our !! wedding anniversary. Went for the nine course tasting menu and then were concerned as we hadn’t reckoned on the three canapés pre starters. We needn’t have worried. The whole meal was exquisite with portions cleverly put together for taste and size and we left well satisfied but not in need of a wheelbarrow. Individual courses were intriguing, offering almost unique taste sensations.....and that’s from a couple who eat regularly at supposed high end restaurants across Europe. One of us decided to go with the accompanying ‘wine flight’ and were impressed with the excellent mid range wines selected and offered a couple of selections neither of us had previously sampled. Any restaurant ultimately depends on the service and knowledge of the staff and it was a true pleasure to listen to and discuss both wines and food with the knowledgeable waiting staff. Altogether a memorable wedding anniversary, thank you Lumiere, wished we lived closer to Cheltenham.
