Overlooking the banks of the River Thames, sailing club and restaurant Little Ship Club in Monument partners hearty British cuisine with fine dining. Occasionally frequented by live bands and local musicians, Little Ship Club boasts a sprawling oak bar and serves sumptuous afternoon tea.

Making use of locally sourced produce, the Little Ship Club menu also favours regional ingredients, featuring Wye Valley asparagus served with poached duck egg and nutty truffle hollandaise. Main courses include freshly-caught seared tuna in a tangy soy sauce served with oriental vegetables, along with rosy-pink Gresham duck confit paired with rich fondant potatoes and creamy parsnip purée.

Nautical-inspired carpets sweep the length of the Little Ship Club restaurant, which unfolds through an enormous, rectangular archway. Contemporary spotlights scatter across the low ceiling, illuminating the historical artwork that lines the stark, white walls.

Little Ship Club in London is just a 3-minute walk from Mansion House Tube Station. St. Paul’s Cathedral is a 9-minute walk away.

I have dined several times at The Little Ship Club, whose premises are shared with The Worshipful Company of Arts Scholars (I am a member), and the experience has always been very satisfactory. Whether I experience the Friday offering of ‘fish ‘n’ chips’ or decide to go for something a little more adventurous it is always well prepared and served by courteous, efficient, and helpful staff.
I look forward to many, many more visits still to come.

My guests and myself thoroughly enjoyed the ambience and luncheon last Friday. The service was good and the personnel cheerful. This is why I have recently applied for membership of the CLC.

Good as always although the gas oven was broken leading to a slightly reduced a la carte menu. Just stuck with the Club dish of the day which was the fish and chips.

Twenty four of us dined on the Friday Club Menu (one was A La Carte) and ate in the Library. We were very well looked after by Didier and his team and we enjoyed a very convivial lunch. Following the lunch I encouraged those dining to look round the Club with a view to possibly joining and I hope some will do so.

I have been a member of the Little Ship Club since 1990, and have used the Club regularly throughout that time. Never when I nowadays go there for lunch (maybe once a month or so, but twice in the past fortnight) am I made to feel welcome or that I am a member of "my Club" (I usually make a point of wearing my LSC club tie). Au contraire, the service is usually off hand, never particularly friendly, often slow, and importantly, never am I made to feel at home - the reason I continue to pay my membership subscription. That anyone should greet me by name is unthinkable.
Turning to the club table menu choice. Twice recently the advertised roast pork has been replaced by sausage & mash. An obviously much cheaper dish, and whilst tasty enough, and well presented, it is a poor substitute. Meanwhile, the Members' discount on the Club lunch seems to have been removed. who knew?
