Housed in a 15th-century building, Le Talbooth has grown from a quiet tea room into an award-winning restaurant. Experience fine dining overlooking the River Stour, and choose from a menu which draws from East Anglia’s rich bounty of produce.

Chef Andy Hirst’s cooking is modern British in style, adding innovative touches to local ingredients to create the Talbooth menu. Le Talbooth has 3 individual dining rooms - The River Room unfurls onto the outside terrace which is sheltered by a striking sail,. The Old Room is a smaller, more intimate room with inglenook fireplaces, and the Weavers Room on the first floor is used for private dining and parties.

From the menu, discover the likes of citrus-cured hand-dived scallops with dill gremolata, keta caviar and pickled ginger, or fillet of dry-aged Dedham Vale beef Rossini with rosti potato, spinach and Madeira jus. Finish with indulgent desserts like apple and gooseberry soufflé with vanilla milk ice cream.

The food and wine was excellent as usual. The only annoying matters were:-
    (1) the clearing of table was too brisk which we felt rushed.
    (2) the presentation of wines was made to my partner and I was completely ignored, not good practice

Excellent imaginatively prepared and beautifully presented food using local fresh products. The restaurant atmosphere is warm and inviting in an elegant yet charming dining room that combines historic features with contemporary elegance. Service is efficient, knowledgeable and friendly without being intrusive. We have enjoyed our meals here on every occasion, have recommended to friends, brought friends who enjoyed the experience and food immensely and have reserved a table for another Sunday lunch to which we have invited one of my most knowledgeable friends, an excellent cook who has dined at many starred Michelin restaurants, often in together with me in Paris and France.

This restaurant never dissapoints. The moment you step through the door the staff are professional friendly and attentive. The ambience whtherveating inside are out, preferably out with the heaters on just in case! Is superb with a wonderful location second to none. Even more important is the fine dining with a munu full of delightful dishes, hard to choose. The food is suplime particully the pineapple and coconut Elton mess which is not what your expect and the Vanilla custard soufflé not to mention the fish and meat courses. Cannot wait to visit again.

it was all very nice sitting by the river having a fab meal for my husbands birthday .no complaints at all

The restaurant was busy and quite obviously short on staff to cope with the numbers. This resulted in a long long delay in receiving our food, over an hour before the main course. When the food arrived it was generally good so no complaints about the food. However the level of service and knowledge from the staff was not that good.

Lovely atmosphere and fantastic food. The staff were particularly helpful and we enjoyed the steel band.
