Restaurant description

An icon of London’s culinary arena, Le Gavroche is a 2 Michelin-starred restaurant specialising in classic French fine dining. The restaurant was opened in 1967 by the legendary Roux brothers and is now under the guidance of Chef Patron Michel Roux Jr.

Known as “the last bastion in London of classically French haute cuisine”, the Le Gavroche menu consists of thoughtfully prepared dishes using carefully sourced produce, and wines from the restaurant’s renowned cellar. Signature dishes include the legendary Soufflé Suissesse, which has been on the menu since 1969. Guests can choose from the À La Carte or the Menu Exceptionnel tasting menu, featuring Le Gavroche classics and contemporary French cuisine.

The Chef’s Library is an intimate space with a table seating 6 people, decorated with a variety of cookbooks collected by Michel Roux Jr. The Chef’s Library has a direct video link to the kitchen, and offers a daily changing 6-course menu presented to you by your chef.

Le Gavroche remains one of the capital’s most sought-after restaurants. Located in Mayfair, the restaurant is a short stroll from Hyde Park and a 7-minute walk from Marble Arch Underground Station.

The service and food was excellent. The soufflé was the most sublime dessert I have had, truly superb.

What a wonderfully intimate dining experience. Top class but discreet service. Lovely to meet that man himself. He made such an effort to chat to everyone there and even decorated our desert plates when he realised we were on honeymoon. Food was outstanding - seriously faultless. We'll definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time. We were looked after from the moment we arrived until we left. From the lady who greeted us at the door, to the waitresses who were very helpful and explained the dishes perfectly, the wine waiter who was unobtrusive but kept our glasses topped up without us having to ask. The food was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The restaurant downstairs is tastefully decorated and while it was very busy you did not feel rushed and you were not left waiting for anything. We were certainly made to feel really special.

Absolute fabulous restaurant and made extra special as Michele Roux Jr came and introduced him and spent some time chatting to us. I had the prawn starter which was amazing, the ravioli and my husband had the lamb and cheese for desert. The selection of cheeses was the best I have ever seen. Prior to the starter we were given lots of tasters and after our cheese more chocolates. In addition we were given a fantastic birthday and anniversary treat of cakes. Our wine was perfect and the choice amazing. The whole setting, atmosphere and comfort of the place is excellent. The service and food simply brilliant. I cannot thank Mr Roux and his team for making my birthday and our wedding anniversary such a special occasion. This still remains probably the best restaurant in UK and most of the world.

The food was worthy of the restaurant's reputation - the lamb was exquisite.reception at the bar was welcoming and staff attentive to all our needs. Drinks list was extensive and overall not expensive for Mayfair.

The most delightful of dining experiences. The food and wine was most excellent and was only surpassed by the superb staff, who made this a most memorable experience.
