I loved the restaurant...the food was lovely ??

I booked this restaurant and noting other comments booked upstairs however on arrival was seated downstairs which was lovely albeit a cosier atmosphere. I ordered off the main menu as the pre / post theatre menu was only two options per course - not a problem for my friend however. We both ordered the pate which was a nice portion size and came with bread, our main courses actually took a really long time to come out which staff apologised for however on arrival my friend's steak and frites was room temperature whereas my beef bourguignon was steaming hot and really delicious. We were quite hungry and just ate it by this point then ordered desserts, I can recommend the tarte au citron however my friends chocolate dessert was quite rich. When we came to pay we were asked if we liked the food and commented as above, this appeared to be taken badly with minimal apology and some defensiveness. I can say my meal was delicious but the service left a little to be desired.

As delicious, relaxed, friendly and French as it's always been...

This is one of my favourite places to catch up with old friends. Set course and wine is always good value. But if going with any claustrophobic friends make sure you book in the upstairs section as the downstairs section which is bigger is intimate with low ceilings but not for people who feel uncomfortable with the idea of being underground
