Great lunchtime experience. Food delightfully French, best rabbit I've ever had and atmosphere professional but relaxed.

A renowned slice of French sophistication in the heart of London, Le Café du Marché is housed in a stunning converted building that was once a corset factory. As well as the sumptuous French recipes, there are celebrated jazz evenings, while the terrace is a romantic spot to enjoy a glass of wine.

Celebrated tastes of Provincial France are combined with inventive European twists on the Le Café du Marché menu, with the dishes changing every 5 weeks to reflect the best seasonal ingredients. Pork and black pudding terrine comes with cornichon, sourdough and frisée salad, moving on to indulgent mains such as guinea fowl supreme with hispi cabbage and morel cream sauce. There are also vegetarian recipes, ranging from rich soups to delicacies like beetroot risotto with roasted butternut and goat's cheese.

A superb selection of the finest French wines are offered at Le Café du Marché in Clerkenwell, with the knowledgeable staff on hand to give recommendations. For dessert, there are daily specialities alongside other treats like orange crème brûlée.

Filled with rustic French charm, Le Café du Marché offers a celebrated taste of the continent. Barbican Tube Station is just a 4-minute walk away.

The restaurant staff were not very friendly. It was not full and yet they put the only 2 large parties ( us of 5 and another of 6) at right angles to each other and extremely close and cramped. The staff huddled together by the bar/till chatting even though it was clear we were ready to order for at least 10 mins.
They left their order book on our table between courses so they could fill it in there rather than keeping it with them.
The food was not particularly impressive.

The food is excellent and generous. The restaurant is full of atmosphere and charm - I've been going there for years from time to time and it's still a favourite. Rib of beef for two with Béarnaise sauce was beautifully tender and full of flavour.

Been here on many occasions and put simply it never fails. Great Food, service and ambiance. I adore this place. At some point you must try the Cote de Boeuf. Heaven :-)

The food is excellent especially the Parsnip & Ginger soup. The Cote de Bouef was fantastic, think our dogs are still finishing off the leftovers as the portion was huge, even for 2 big guys.
I would definitely recommend and it's a regular haunt for us for sure.

Three had pheasant as dish of the day, which was not especially good. I paid £5 extra & had lobster tagliatelle delicious

Food was excellent. Bread was horribly dry. Go and get brad for dinner sevice during the afternoon.
Service was kind of awkward. They were watching us awkwardly the entire time, not a very pleasant experience.
When we ordered wine, they didn't asked us if we wanted a small of big glass, they gave us a big glass.
In the end, they told us the "optional 12.5% tax" was mandatory...
TL;DL: good food, bad service. To me, service is as important as food in a restaurant. Pretty surprised the boss doesn't feel the same.
