A classic country pub, The Lazy Toad Inn Exeter has earned a place in the Michelin Guide with its hearty British and European menu. Housed in an 18th-century, Grade II-listed building, this character-packed pub also boasts a peaceful beer garden.

Favourites on The Lazy Toad menu include loin of pork with Jerusalem artichoke purée, salt-baked celeriac and red wine salsify, blue cheese and hazelnut tortellini with crispy kale, and classic fish and chips served with minted mushy peas and hand-cut chips. Amongst the indulgent desserts, savour glazed banana loaf with peanut butter ice cream, or lemon posset with passion fruit jelly and shortbread biscuit.

With open fires and original features, The Lazy Toad in Brampford Speke is a charmingly rustic venue serving English and international wines, and local ales. Sunday roasts are also a firm favourite.

The Lazy Toad Inn Devon sits in an idyllic village on the banks of the River Exe. Exeter is just a 15-minute drive away.

Great pub, in a nice 'out of the way' quiet location. Barman was a nice lad, unusual for modern youngsters. Nice environment. Food on the prissy side, portions a little small, and bordering 'accountant chips'. A few more pence spent on ingredients and people leaving feeling they have had good value and a good meal would help. The quality of the food and choice is good but a forty to fifty percent increase in volume would improve things. People go out to eat, not for art....

I had the steak and ale pie, as did my wife, which was good, it a bit small. A friend had a really good fish and chips.

Price, on the high side, but this is not your average pub anyway.

First visit to the Lazy Toad Inn. Being Sunday we opted for the Roast and were not disappointed. Starters and specials were diverse. The scotch egg was delicious as were the fishcakes. All local fresh produce so full of flavour. It was early January so can't comment on atmosphere too much as was quiet although many of the tables were filled at the time we were there circa 2pm. Overall, the interior was spotless and not a crack or cobweb to be seen. Pleasant/friendly staff. Easy parking. Not much more we could ask for. Perfect and will visit again soon!

Greated with a warm welcome. A gorgeous place. Sat at a lovely table for two and was served promptly. The starter was amazing and the dinner was devine! Even managed to eat a little of a pudding which was extremely good too...much to full at the end to finish. Fantastic place, although wasn’t busy at the time (weekend after new year so to be expected) the atmosphere was still fab and a great place to eat. Would definitely go back! And recommend greatly.

This used to be our local pub/restaurant and our kids enjoy eating there when they come to visit. The service is always good and friendly the menu was adequate - it was just after New Year and everyone is feeling jaded about eating.i would have preferred my non oily fish not to have been fried. It was a bit too much for me, everyone else enjoyed their 3 courses. Lovely presentation and portion size good.
