Bought gift vouchers for my mother in law and her partner to have an afternoon tea. Her sister had been and recommended it to her. She was very enthusiastic about her visit, saying the room was lovely, the atmosphere was great and the food was gorgeous. I'm sure she would love to go again!

It was wonderful! Wonderful afternoon tea and very good service. Just a couple of little details to make it perfection: 1. we arrived at 4.05pm for our 4pm table and were told it wasn't ready. We had a choice to go into the Lounge Bar and choose a table so that is what we did rather than wait for a table to be made ready. 2. my Earl Grey tea was loose leaf - I didn't know that until I started to drink it. I needed a tea strainer but there wasn't one provided. It was too late once I had started to drink the tea! None the less it was a brilliant afternoon tea and we loved it. We will return again.

We had the vegan afternoon tea. We were sat down at our booked time, but then I think we were missed by the waiter taking initial drinks orders, so unfortunately we sat there for 30mins before anything happened, watching other diners seated after us being served drinks and food before we’d even had our drinks order taken. But eventually we got our drinks, and after another 15mins got our food which by then we were ready for. The sandwich section of the was lovely, hummus and pepper sandwiches were very tasty, and warm pittas with falafel was also nice, also could have been improved by something moist inside, as they were a little dry. Then unfortunately the second tier was disappointing. Scones which were so hard, we really struggled to cut them with our knives. We had to stab them and then work the knife through them to open them. The jam and coconut cream were nice, but the scones are more like biscuits than scones. Perhaps they had been cooked too long? Then on to the final tier, this was overall pretty good, a nice chocolate cake with coffee cream filling, a raspberry mouse with biscuit base was nice, and some raspberry sorbet, the only slightly poor part was a lemon ‘cake’ (I think) was really hard, almost like it had sugar in that had set hard. Overall, we left feeling a bit disappointed to be honest. The scones were the big failing - everything else, even the wait, was forgivable, but on top of the scones it made the experience a bit underwhelming. We know vegan food can be difficult, particularly baking, but this is why we chose this venue, because they specifically advertised a vegan afternoon tea, which is different to just having a vegan alternative- it makes you think they have tried and tested recipes, and know how to bake vegan cakes, etc, so I hope this was just a one off baking mistake. But, unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it to friends. However, it is lovely venue, and I’m leaving this review hoping that it will help you to improve.

Only went for a cream tea, but it was lovely, scones were warm and fresh, service was friendly and helpful, the hotel was beautiful, would recommend it, and we are seriously thinking of having our up coming wedding there.

Had a lovely afternoon tea with my elderly mom, we chose to sit in the conservatory and felt safe.... which was the most important thing for us. The staff were really friendly and professional, we had a nice time, the scones were a bit dry but would still come again.

Fantastic! Good price, fab service we were left alone to eat our afternoon tea in peace, didn't feel pressured to eat and leave like you do in some places, great selection of food and lovely freshly baked scones ??

Very nice afternoon tea, polite service and the tea room/restaurant is well designed and tastefully decorated. Selection of finger sandwiches, scones and cakes very good - only drawback was not having a choice of tea, which I was thought was really unusual for a tea room, I asked for Assam and was told they didn’t have that. Pretty much just breakfast tea.
