Restaurant description

Laura Ashley proudly presents The Tea Room at Kenwood Hall. Decorated in signature Laura Ashley style, it creates a unique and memorable experience for guests. The extensive afternoon tea selection includes homemade cakes, sandwiches and Birchall teas. A quintessentially British treat for special occasions and more.

The Laura Ashley Tea Room is located in the Drawing room which is a part of the original house. Kenwood Hall is located in one of Sheffield’s most beautiful suburbs. The oldest part of the hotel was built as the private residence of Sheffield cutlery manufacturer George Wostenholm in 1845. After his death in 1876 Kenwood Park, as it was then known, was inherited by his widow. Her second husband, Thomas Beaumont, added a major extension to the house in 1882-3.

The property has 114 bedrooms, a spa and leisure club and 12 acres of land.

Laura Ashley - The Tea Room at Kenwood Hall is a 10-minute drive from Sheffield Rail Station.

A lovely setting, but be sure to go to the right place, as initially we were seated in the main hotel restaurant where they also serve the afternoon tea. Our afternoon tea was all very nice - especially the delicious scones, the amazing welsh rarebit, the choc mousse and the macaron. The quantity of food was just right (sometimes it can be too much, but not here) and having two scones was lovely! The only areas we though could be better are a little more filling in the sandwiches, and asking if we wanted the hot drinks at the same time or after our prosecco. Only very minor points.

A very pleasant experience. We were the only guests in the tea rooms at the time so it was quiet but the decor is beautiful and very homely. Polite and friendly service and delicious savoury afternoon tea option.

We had a wonderful Traditional afternoon tea. Finger sandwiches, 2 scones and some small cakes, the tea arrived first and after we had eaten I did have to ask for more tea as it had gone cold. The room was a little chilly but it is Autumn.

The booking was simple as I did it online. The parking signage was a little confusing as we had to park at the other end of the hotel and walk round the grounds and then it was not clear which was entrance to the tea room. The afternoon tea was nice but I think there should have been a few more sandwiches and one less scone. I think 2 scones plus 4 cakes is a little too much on the sweet side. The teapot leaked as it was being poured. The room was a little cold. The service from the staff was good and the girl who served us was attentive enough without being intrusive.

The Laura Ashley Tea Room was a lovely new addition to the Kenwood Hotel. The view was lovely overlooking the hotel grounds. The table setting was immaculate. All parts of the afternoon tea were delicious. The waitress that served us throughout our visit was very pleasant, helpful and informative, explaining everything that was served to us.
