'Latium' is quite simply In a league of its own with respects to Italian restaurants in London. The standard is comparable to what what might expect from a top-end restaurant in Rome, Florence, Bologna or Venice. The menu is not unfeasibly large - which usually rings an alarm bell - but offers, instead, an excellent range of dishes, carefully chosen so that they are distinctive, both in their ingredients and in the cooking style. Particularly to be recommended are the seared scallops with brandade of cod and inkfish mayonnaise. Then again, all dishes that were ordered could be recommended, including the ravioli (both the burrata-filled and the agnolottii), the stuffed squid and the controfiletto. The wine list is extensive and has a something for all pockets and palates. All told, 'Latium' is highly recommended for those who like their Italian food not as it has been homogenized in the UK since the 1960s (familiar pasta dishes, pizzas, ossobuco, bread-crumbed chicken, etc.) but in the contemporary Italian style.

Really enjoyable pre-theatre dinner. Good choice on menu. Fishcake starter excellent as was the prawns my partner had. Baby chicken main course we had was really delicious. Reasonably priced good quality Pinot Grigio accompanied a wonderful meal. Good service and good value.

We went as part of our Shard Experience. Things started poorly in that we were left standing whilst we waited for our table. However, after a quiet word with the maitre d, we were looked after from then on. Food was very nice and not over priced for central London.
