My visit was to have a cream tea with my friend. The sandwiches were light and delicious. The scones were also light and the little cakes were so tasty. The service was excellent and the staff were very attentive.

We came for champagne afternoon tea. Good selection of 4 different vegetarian sandwiches. Really liked the mini scones and pleased there were plain as well as fruit. Desserts were also all very nice - favourite was the apple profiterole

We booked the afternoon tea to give our German guests an 'English experience' and they were impressed by the whole ritual. As always, very good efficient service, pity the weather precluded an outside table, but that is part of being in England. With the increasing wind and threat of rain had to ask for the French doors to be closed eventually- but not a fault of the restaurant. Sandwiches generally very good - although the cream cheese & cucumber was a little squidgey for our liking - would prefer more cucumber crunch and less squidge. Generally a well balanced assortment thank you

Very, very nice experience! We were a table of 6 and had a very comfortable round table (although the seats are a little bit too low for shorter people, but the staff did bring cushions to sit on). The food and service were excellent and the bonus was being able to have our coffee and teas on the sunny terrace outside.

Excellent afternoon tea in a lovely setting. Weather held, so was able to enjoy this experience outside.

This trip was disappointing compared to previous visits. Service was quite slow, the quality of the beef was lower than normal (but still good, just not excellent), and the choice of desserts was very limited with basically three sight variations on a theme rather than genuine choices.

Very good and delicious meal, but would have liked more Choice.

This was a birthday present given by work colleagues that my husband benefitted from too. We had afternoon tea with a super selection of sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, followed by delicious cakes and mousse. The service we received were second to none and sitting by the window overlooking the garden with a delightful pond made for a very enjoyable treat. We will definitely be returning.

Went for afternoon tea. The reception desk is housed at the bottom of a beautiful old staircase with carved wood and aged patina, where a truly dreadful plastic coated grey reception desk was squashed in. We were put in a room with four other tables, it was pretty cramped and no chance of a private conversation. The inglenook fireplace was beautiful apart from the awful turquoise paint job on the bricks. We had the full afternoon tea, the coffee was good, but not exceptional, the sandwiches neatly cut but not made with homemade bread (a disappointment!), the scones were average at best. The cakes/mousse were fair, but nothing outstanding and why dayglo green icing was put on the choux pastry is beyond comprehension. To sum up, it was pleasant, but not exceptional and I could've done everything to the standard served at home (and I'd have made my own bread). The staff were very friendly and polite, I would've ordered more coffee, but no one came back after initially serving us.
