Festive afternoon tea was exceptional! Bottomless bubbles were truly bottomless. In fact, it was hard to keep up with how many bubbles we’d had!! I mentioned very briefly on the booking form the occasion was for the wife’s birthday and they brought out an extra special birthday desert for her. Food was excellent and the service was incredible. Particularly ‘Dan’. A true gent! The cocktails were also very good Will definitely be back!!

I was not impressed by my experience of Lanes. The food was nice and the waitress Vanessa was sweet but these are the only positives. Booking the table was no problem but when I needed assistance before the booking communication was very poor. I had emailed on the day before to say our guests changed from 8 to 5. The table was set for 8. We booked a set menu and glass of prosecco for £28.50, when we were presented with the menus it £35. I queried this and was told recently the menu had changed but we would not be charged more, fine. Had we been told this at the inception of booking a table would have been much more efficient though in my opinion. Three of my guests arrived 20mins before me and were not approached at all, no offering for water, no menus and no interaction. When I did arrive I was waiting by the unmanned host for 5 mins before anyone acknowledged me. We waited maybe 20 more mins before we prompted for service from Vanessa. Please bear in mind that the guests who arrived before me have not been offered anything for 40mins. Vanessa seemed nervous and without meaning to be, a little offish which some of the group perceived as rude but in the end she warmed up and really redeemed herself by being very accommodating. Everything was going well, we received our food very tasty, it was our friends 30th Birthday and we had bought a cake which we asked to be bought out with candles. We waited a long time for this but eventually a waiter, not Vanessa, brought out the cake with unlit candles in and awkwardly put the cake in front of our friend. Then, when he had put the cake on the table lit the candles? At this point we found it quite funny. Anyway we chatted there for a long time, no glasses cleared no cake plates cleared no-one checked in with us to see if we wanted anything else so we got up and requested the bill. We were charged £35 per head! They dealt with this swiftly. We didn't pay svc. Gave Vanessa some cash instead. Wouldn't go back.

Amazing experience with the bottomless bubbly botanical afternoon tea! We ended up being there for 5 hours of bottomless fun, which was incredible! The food & tea was great, and the live harpist was a lovely touch. Will definitely be returning! Our server Annika was awesome!

Reasonable breakfast, the food was fine but the service was very poor. We had a booking but were seated next the kitchen door which kept slamming beside us. In fact it took a while to even get noticed when we came into the room and were completely ignored by the staff until we had to approach them to let them know we had a booking. The main lady who served us was not very personable and it appeared we where an inconvenience to her rather than a customer to be looked after. No one came to check on us either during or on completion of our meal and therefore we decided to pay on the way out rather than wait for someone to come back to us. It was not even particularly busy to account for this. We dined in a number of similar hotels during our visit and this was by far the least enjoyable and very poor in comparison to competitors.

Had a great service in lovely environment with harpist playing. Lots of free flowing bubbles, made it a fabulous afternoon tea with girlfriends.
