Inside a stunningly renovated former rectory featuring floor to ceiling windows, Lanes Hotel is a contemporary setting for seasonal European dishes and traditional British afternoon teas in the picturesque village of West Coker.

The Lanes Hotel menu boasts a selection of British favourites and more contemporary European recipes, using the best seasonal produce. There are premium cuts of steak from the local butcher, as well as fresh fish from the Dorset coast, served with triple-cooked chips. Ballotine of chicken is served with asparagus and truffle with thyme jus, and there are vegetarian dishes including sweet potato and corn stew with cornbread muffin and salad.

Desserts include classics like bread and butter pudding with English custard, and exotic twists such as passionfruit mousse with lime sponge, fruit salad and sorbet. Afternoon teas at Lanes Hotel in Yeovil treat diners to freshly made pastries, sandwiches and loose leaf teas.

Also serving British ciders and speciality beers like oyster stouts, Lanes Hotel is a 13-minute drive from Yeovil Rail Station.

The food was very good, fairly expensive but overall value for money, and the service was very attentive. My steak was perfecty cooked and beautifully tender. My only disappointment was that when the Creme Brulee arrived, it was, in fact, a chocolate mousse with a very chewy toffee disc of caramelised sugar and the shortbread biscuit was rather thick. It all tasted good however.

    Ladies that lunch....
No rush and able to relax with a drink beforehand
    Staff attentive and friendly
Menu choice ok but perhaps a more informal menu would be nice for lunch date..
Enjoyed by the 3 of us... no rush

The meal was just ok. My fish pie was served cold in the middle so had to be returned to be re-heated. The cod loin served to my sister in law was not loin it was a fillet? My husband and his brother had the calves liver which they said was very tasty, the only observation is that it was a grainy texture implying it had been frozen. But the flavours were, my husband say's outstanding. Plus appreciate a reduction for the price reduction. Wines far too expensive for a lunch menu
The staff were very pleasant, but such a shame both times we have visited we were dining on our own.
The furniture in the dining room, (tables with no varnish left on them) and the chairs in the Lounge area have seen better days, leather with holes in and worn through. Not a very good impression to newcomers?

It was a delightful evening from the start, such a warm welcome by the staff and great service at the bar, once shown to the table our food arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious. There was no delay between courses, it was just the perfect amount of time to converse with one another before the next course came. My partner and I were very happy with the dishes and very impressed by the portion sizes. And to top it all off the bill was not extortionate, in fact it was very reasonably priced. I will definitely be dining here again.

A lovely meal and very good service. However as the restaurant got busier, the noise increased making it difficult to hold a conversation.

Double baked cheese souffle was very highly thought of by myself and two companions.
Food was of a high standard and enjoyed by all.
