A classically French bistro, L’Absinthe restaurant in London brings the air of a Parisian neighbourhood hangout to Primrose Hill. Fresh, locally sourced and authentically French, the food can be savoured in the rustic restaurant, bright conservatory, or cosy courtyard.

Having worked under Raymond Blanc and Marco Pierre White, as well as in some of Paris’ top kitchens, the team behind the L’Absinthe menu have produced a creative blend of dishes that is rooted in timeless French tradition. To start, enjoy classics like snails in garlic butter, French onion soup, and chicken liver parfait. Hearty and rich in flavour, mains include stuffed mushroom with creamed leek and spinach, duck confit with braised cabbage and onion sauce, and Aberdeen Angus ribeye with homemade chips.

The food at L’Absinthe Primrose Hill is complemented by a large wine list, expertly selected from largely French suppliers. Bright and welcoming, the décor matches the rustic French authenticity of the food, with on-street seating adding to the charm.

A short stroll from Primrose Hill and Regent’s Park, L’Absinthe London sits in one of London’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. Chalk Farm Tube Station is an 8-minute walk away.

The food and wine were good, generous portions. We liked the brisk, no nonsense but friendly service. It was a bit noisy upstairs, this was our first visit so we don’t know what it is like downstairs. A typical Brasserie, good honest unpretentious food and service.

This is a truly lovely restaurant. It was snowing on the night we went and the atmosphere was just right - warm, welcoming and cosy.
Delicious French food and friendly and attentive staff. I definitely recommend it

This is a typical French bistro and one is greeted with enthusiasm by the French patron , however although I usually enjoy dining there the food old fashioned French cuisine was served with indifference and lack of eye contact and was cleared away with such vigour that the food bits hit my guest. I enjoyed my evening because of the company but whether it was too busy with too few staff I was disappointed. The crepe Suzette was not served flaming and plonked on the tavle

What a lovely bistro type dining experience. We went on a very cold, snowy evening, were welcomed into the warm. Good variety on the menu and delicious sounding specials. We all had a ‘special ‘ for the main course, mine was SeaBream with spinach - beautifully cooked and tasted delicious. Proper French desserts - the chocolate mousse was lovely. Superb wine list, great host & relly good service.
