We decided to give La Tasca a try after two of the independent tapas establishments in Bath were full on a Bank Holiday Monday evening at 8.30.

Only three tables in the restaurant when we arrived. Sat in a row next to window despite being lovely, single glazed and very cold.

Ordered our meal with the waitress and within 2 minutes were served a charcuterie board of which we did not order and when we asked what it was she confirmed oh I'm sorry it's not yours. Only three tables on a Monday night and a mistake like this ? Not a good start. How would it be if the restaurant was busy i wonder? Ordered 8 dishes of which the highlight was the pigs cheek, hake with chipotle sounded lovely but was microwaved from frozen and covered with chilli sauce, rubbery and cold in places. We were very disappointed with this and after one taste put it to one side. Gambas Pil Pil were ok but the garlic and oil that usually make this dish was almost none existent. Calamari again cooked from frozen like rubber, albondigas meatballs were tightly compact and the grind again suggested they were blasted from frozen with no seasoning. Ordered an espresso which came in 90 seconds and sharer dessert which followed after 15 minutes when my espresso was stone cold!!

The bite size cheesecake although looked pretty was again frozen , thawed , soggy, and bland. Brownie incredibly dry and not up to scratch for a high street chain, churros dripping with oil . 5 minutes into eating the platter we were served an aniseed flatbread by the waitress?! It was terrible.

La Tasca you were once fantastic - we gave you a chance and put our faith in a renowned tapas chain and what has happened to you.

    One disappointed Mr Wood.

Good choice on menu with a range of different tapas available on the day. Fair price for city centre venue. They recommend 3 tapas per person but we had plenty with 8 dishes plus bread between 4 for lunch.

Will not be returning here. Food was amazing but staff basically sat us in one half of the restaurant and forgot about us. Very disappointed. Shame it let the place down! Never been to a la tasca like it.... needs shaping up!

No one to greet us on arrival. Heating system broken, food arrived and soon became cold. Like the idea of Spanish staff but really struggled to converse - one dish was wrong but took some time to understand and sort out, then had to get it removed from the bill. Generally disappointing.

good, warm on a cold day, good service. Poor octopus; tough. Anchovies too pickled, unlike Spain. Rest was good.

Very good food and excellent service. The entertainment was nice. The tapas selection was very good. We also tried the vegetables paella. I highly recommend it.

The service was also very good. We were seated and orders taken pleasantly. The food arrived hot and delicious about 10 minutes later.

The experience was great all around. I would go back.

It was ok the service could have been a bit better. They forgot we had ordered a jug of sangria which we had to remind them about. The food was good and didn't have to wait very long
