Restaurant description

Within walking distance of Notting Hill, Portobello Market, Marble Arch and located just off Hyde Park, Café Forty One is London’s only entirely plantbased hotel restaurant. Offering breakfast, lunch, all-day desserts and delicious twist on British Afternoon Tea, enjoyed not only by vegans, vegetarians and the health conscious but simply everyone.

Menus are inspired by Chef Yumiko’s Italian and Japanese heritage focusing on seasonal, fresh and sustainable ingredients from farm to plate. A unique dining experience showcases delicious inspired cuisine defying stereotypes surrounding plant-based food.

The breakfast menu features plantbased alternatives to eggs - scramble from tofu and omelette from chickpeas. Along with Chef’s signature dishes of Porcini Risotto, Gnocchi Pesto and Chocolate Torta, the ‘signature dining experience’ is vegan Afternoon Tea.

Proudly alcohol-free stocking a varied range of fizz, mocktails, Seedlip gins, kombuchas, artisan soft drinks and specialist teas. Gluten free and other dietary choices tailored on request.

Set in the minimalist La Suite West boutique hotel in a busy area of London, the restaurant is sleek, elegant opening onto a leafy garden terrace for al fresco dining. La Suite West is a 2-minute walk from Bayswater and 3-minutes from Queensway Underground, and one stop from Paddington Station.

It’s rare to find a place that can cater for both a gluten and a dairy free diet. The afternoon tea was delicious, especially the warm scones. Staff were friendly and the cafe was very peaceful with nice decor. Only down point is it didn’t include a glass of champagne.

Excellent option for a vegan tea. Great ambiance and service. Nice choice of drinks, including various tea flavours. As for the food, there was no choice. The snacks were tasty but the bread in one of the sandwiches was stale.

Fantastic and attentive service, and absolutely divine food, absolutely top class all round. And not at all overly-expensive given the level of the food and the area the restaurant was in. Drinks were delicious, main courses were fantastic and the desserts were out of this world.

We had gone previously to Café Forty One to check out the Vegan Afternoon Tea, as well as the Valentines pop up dinner; both of those 2 meals were absolutely fantastic, so we decided to go and try out their breakfast menu. The third time around was just as good as the first and second, this is truth! We both had the Full English breakfast which was absolutely phenomenal?? Everything was super delicious and once again you could feel the love in the food! What is more, the service at Cafe Forty one is truly second to none! We are always treated so very well, and in particular Marie is such an absolute gem of a human being???? She is always so kind, caring, and she really is such a wonderful human being, to say the least! We will definitely be back, and we already have reservations to go and try out the lunch menu this coming Friday! Keep up the great work and here is wishing you all a wonderfully equanimous day, filled with peace, love, health, happiness, and truly so very much more ?? With all the Metta in the world to you all today and every single day of your lives, Noah

Fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff were friendly, professional and attentive, and the food was out of this world.

We had booked for afternoon tea and understood that gluten free options were available and the menu stated the same. When we came to order we were told that gluten free options were not available and that we should have pre-booked for this option. Disappointingly, this meant that we decided not to have afternoon tea and had desserts instead. So it was not quite the experience we had envisaged.

The indoor area is not particularly nice but not awful. I would suggest to wait the summer as the outdoor part is super nice. We tried the vegan afternoon tea which is 35GBP per person. It was very disappointing, except one sandwich and 1 pastry which was good, the rest was really not good. This is a shame, as we were really looking forward to it, and finding a good vegan pastry place, but we were very disappointed. Especially at that price... It is way too over priced for the quality of the food (I have not tried the normal menu though).

Lovely staff and ambience. I was a little disappointed by the afternoon tea. It looked amazing but tasted average. There is a lot of vegan competition now so my expectations are high.

I was very happy with everything; the food, the drinks, the service, the atmosphere, the location, the price. It was a nice experience and I would recommend it to everyone.

The desserts were old, stale and tasteless. The savories were also not tasty since there was so much smoky taste going on. The only eatbale thing was scones, jam and honey. The waitresses were good and attentive. The ambiance was ok not very interesting or luxurious. I wouldn’t recommend this experience. It was over priced for the level of afternoon treats we ate. The coffee and tea was also not very good quality.
