Opening hours
La Garrigue is open six days a week from Monday to Saturday inclusive for lunch and dinner. During the festival we open on Sundays. Lunch is available from 12.00 till 2.30 while dinner or pre-theatre is offered from 6.30 pm till 9.30pm. Earlier and later options can be accommodated if arranged in advance and are subject to availability of staff rather than tables! Advanced reservations are especially recommended for Saturdays and for larger parties.

Close to the Royal Mile, La Garrigue is a low-key yet chic French restaurant in the buzzing heart of Edinburgh city centre. Smart hyacinth and white-panelled walls strike a stylishly understated tone, with simple wooden seating and bright windows offering views over Carlton Hill. Cuisine is similarly deceptively rustic, specialising in signature dishes from the rural Languedoc region of southern France heartened by deft modern cooking.

Very accommodating and friendly. Without a murmur they set up a better configured table for our group of 9 having a final family meal together before dispersing to London, New York etc after an extended Christmas home in Edinburgh. The service was attentive but felt a little pressurised possibly because of size of group. Eg vegetables came five minutes after main course. The ambience was great. We had a relaxed and convivial meal. 3 courses for [$]. The food was imaginative. Starters ranged from simple French onion soup, through crab cake to soufflé. Main courses well thought through and tasty. Pheasant, pork belly, rabbit, beef cheeks with delicious sauces and accompanying vegetables. Good range of well loved puddings. We will go again. A perfect way to round off our Christmas celebrations.

Arrived at 1.30pm for lunch, a mix of French & Scottish friends. Staff was very polite, using both languages to welcome us and advise us on the food. Perfect service, food came quickly and was absolutely delicious. My second visit to La Garrigue and it won't be the last!

We had a family & friends re-union, including a 10 month old child and cousins who'd spent most of their careers in France. Over a four hour dinner we felt welcome, served and nicely fed on a round table in a semi-private area capable of taking 10. The fish "soup", quite like a bisque, was relished by much of the party. The rest of the menu had something for everyone. The "acrobatic" wine was particularly good on the nose and went down very well. I will certainly return next time ah'm in ma haim toun.

Restaurant got booking service time wrong by an hour (which fortunately didn't matter). Don't know who's fault this was, restaurant or bookatable. Bill had to be corrected - was incorrect as rendered Food was good Staff were helpful Table where we sat, light from windows was very glaring.
